"I went down to the mountain, I was drinking some wine,
Looked up in the heavens Lord I saw a mighty sign,
Writt'n fire across the heaven, plain as black and white;
Get prepared, there's gonna be a (UCLA basketball) party tonight."
A little taste of "celebration of life" that was UCLA basketball with the Big Red.

Thanks for the memories Nestor
My 4 undergrad years at UCLA were the Walton Years, and watching the video was actually quite emotional. I was one of those students who camped out for days waiting to buy tickets and seeing my student days brought back a flood of wonderful basketball memories.
It's my pleasure
Watching it is emotional for many of us who never experienced it first hand. I know I can’t explain the feeling when I watch the clips of Ed O and Tyus. I can’t imagine how you guys who were on campus back at the day feel when you watch it. Powerful stuff.
As someone who was around during the Walton Gang....
I get the same emotional feeling whenever I see the Ed/Tyus videos. I’ve never been prouder of my Bruins than when they won in ‘95. I don’t know how they did it (I was never much of a Harrick fan) but I have nothing but love for all those kids of ’95.
Anyway Nestor, thank you so much for posting the clip. It always bring a huge smile to my face.
That was the s**t.
GREAT VIDEO

Great Video!
I remember watching that national championship game against Memphis St. on TV when Walton made 21 of 22 shots from the field. As I recall most of those shots were not layups but 10-12 foot fall away jump shots from the left side that he banked off the glass. It was an amazing performance. However Coach Wooden always maintained that the greatest performance by one of his players in a championship game was not Walton’s performance but Gail Goodrich’s 42 points against Michigan in 1965.
A friend of mine who was from New Jersey and who came to UCLA for graduate school told me that at the very start of Walton’s first varsity season in 1971 he thought that Walton had to be way overrated and overhyped. His first chance to see Walton play was when they played Ohio St. early in the season. He said that Ohio St. had a center who had been All American honorable mention, and he thought he would outplay Walton. My friend who watched at floor level said that he became a believer when on the first shot taken by the Ohio St. center, a baseline jumper, he completely faked out Walton yet Walton still blocked the shot!
My handle tells it all
Walton was a sophomore when I was a freshman. I have the HBO special on my DVR, I’ve watched it a dozen times and made my kids watch it too. Basketball tickets were $4.25 for the season! Tuition was $275.50 per quarter. It couldn’t have any better unless my intramural team won, instead losing in the basketball finals. Can I go back to undergrad please!
