Guess Ray Ray Doesn't "Own The Police" In Kentucky

A case of Trojies living up to their reputation again:

Police in northern Kentucky have arrested Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga on charges of drunken and careless driving.

Covington police spokesman Spike Jones says Maualuga hit a parking meter and two parked cars early Friday with his 2003 Pontiac. There was minor damage.

The 23-year-old is being held without bond at Kenton County jail, and no attorney is listed for him.

The Bengals' 2009 second-round draft choice from Southern Cal started the first 15 games of his rookie season before breaking his left ankle.

A 2003 Pontiac? Did he blow away all his NFL U$C* money already?

GO BRUINS.

Haha!

That’s the first thing I thought of, too. In part, because Ray doing something dumb like this wasn’t a surprise.

2003 Pontiac models

according to wikipedia (admittedly not always 100% precise, but easy to find):
Sunfire
Vibe
Grand Am
Grand Prix
Bonneville
Aztec
Trans Sport/Montana

Think he has an Aztec??

I had a case 20 or so years ago in Covington (Boone County), Kentucky

that involved a drunk driver (my client’s employee) who started drinking on duty, continued at our bar when he was off duty, got even more plastered at another bar, then tried to drive home (with a drambouie to go in a plastic cup), went across a median and hit a car head on killing a little girl and seriously injuring mom and dad. I learned that at least at that time there was zero tolerance for drunk drivers. When the judge sentenced our employee to the maximum sentence for vehicular manslaughter, he made it clear that he was not giving him more time only because the law would not permit it. In the wrongful death action (a dram shop case as it turned out against us), the jury could not wait to sock it to the defendants. We settled during trial for a lot of money, our co-defendant didn’t (another dram shop case) and the jury made a huge award.

I heard (don’t know if it’s true) that MADD was started in Boone County. I do know that there were MADD people in the courtroom for the trial.

I would not want to be a drunk driving defendant in Boone County. If there’s even a little evidence against Rey Rey, he’s going to find out that it’s a lot different in Boone County that it was on the sidelines at just$c.

Hey Fox...

There was a drunk-driver that hit a school bus head on in Northern Kentucky right about that time… A fire broke out and most of the kids died, 27 deaths in total. If your case was around that time, it’s easy to see why there was zero-tolerance for DDs. That crash was within 50 miles of where Rey Rey was picked up.

That must have been after my case

We would have opened the checkbook and had the plaintiff’s’ lawyer write whatever he wanted if we were following that one.

No bail

Ray has caught a break being held without bail. This gives him a chance to get squared away in his cell and chat it up with his new cell mates which given he’s being held in Covington means they probably all had supporting roles in Deliverance. Good luck Ray.

Oh Rey....

He had a 17 year old and an 18 year old girl with him at the time… blew a .157.

I’m guessing that the 2003 Pontiac belonged to one of the girls. If so, one would presume they were probably more drunk then he was at the time…

exactly how do you plead not guilty...

after hitting an inanimate meter and 2 parked cars? …just wondering

Cancel travel plans to Kentucky

If you are thinking of spending the weekend in Covington Kentucky, and aren’t we all, think twice because former Inmate Maualuga has, according to USA Today, now been released on his own recognizance.

more thoughts on Rey

I just saw the sbnation article and decided to put my own thoughts here since they are kinda long: http://ranjeremysports.blogspot.com/2010/01/rey-maualuga-is-role-model.html

We are ok with this

I like your idea bb but I appreciate the effort macca is doing to built up another Bruin heavy blog. We need more of us out there.

Perhaps the best thing for macca to do would be to post couple of paras from his post and then throw in link. But he and his crew are getting into this blogging thing and more variety out there …the better for the Bruin Nation.

I admit it is a bit awkward at first

You’re here on BN and another guy is coming in, dropping a one-liner, then encouraging you to read his thoughts on the topic on his blog rather than putting those thoughts up here on BN.

I get that. It seems a bit weird.

But, you have to remember that BN is a blog started by a couple of UCLA guys who picked this whole blogging thing up as a hobby. BN, at one point in time, was like RanJeremySports, just some guys having fun. Over time, some more Bruins joined the club, and somehow, someway (mostly through Nestor’s hard work), BN developed a following and grew into a community.

We’re not trying to generate traffic to increase advertising revenue, attract readership to improve marketshare, or pandering to the party line for improved ratings. In other words, we’re not the MSM. Because we’re doing this for free, we don’t feel the need to demand exclusivity or engage in competitive practices.

We’re just Bruins having fun man, and more power to RanJeremySports for doing the same. Hell, maybe one day, they’ll be bigger than BN, or be another EDSBS (which started as a kind-of Florida-leaning blog started by a bunch of dudes).

Ha ... I like that

RJS … a Bruin version of EDSBS that will mercilessly clown the toolbags from South Central … I like that idea a lot.

Thugaluga

The biggest a-hole ever to come out of the Pete Carroll Charm School, and that’s saying a lot, considering the endless parade of criminals, mental deficients, ecstasy abusers, Facebook racists and steroid junkies that Petey mentored. Actually, I should say Rey Rey’s the second biggest a-hole; his Bengal teammate Frostee Rucker used to beat up women for fun.
