Way off topic
I'm watching the battle of the trOJies - the Jets and Sanchez against the Bengals and Palmer. Palmer the magnificent is 1 for 11 for no yards and a QB rating of 1.7. Sanchez is having a decent game, and the Jets are leading 30-0. The Jets needed this game to make the playoffs, and Sanchez did a good job. (I was rooting for Cincy, because I wanted the Jets not to make the playoffs.)
Anyway, seeing these two paragons of virtue at QB for their respective teams made me think of Cheatie's wonderful support of his player at the press conference at which Sanchez said he was turning pro. According to the BN fanpost of 1-15-09, Cheatie said the following: "The facts are so strong against this decision," Carroll said. "After analyzing all the information, the truth is there — he should’ve stayed for another year."
Then he added ""Mark’s chance to increase his value and become the top player in college football next year would have been worth $10-$20 million or more — likely more," Carroll said. "One more year of running a team is almost priceless, so he lost the chance to fully prepare himself and become the very best he could be before going to the NFL."
Cheatie obviously was not being selfish. He knew he was well-stocked at QB. After all, he had Mustain. He was just looking our for Mark's best interests. According to something called New York Jets Salary Cap, Sanchez is getting a little more than Cheatie could afford to pay:
"The New York Jets signed their 2009 first round draft choice, QB Mark Sanchez, to a 5 year contract on June 10, 2009. The contract is reportedly worth 50.5 million with 28 million in guarantees. Sanchez will earn base salaries of $2,545,000(2009), $3,181,250(2010), $3,817,500(2011), $4,453,750(2012), and $5,090,000(2013). At this time we do not believe that Sanchez received any signing or roster bonus money upon signing his contract. We are estimating that Sanchez will likely earn an extra 17 million in easily attainable incentives over the first three years of his contract."
Just think how much more he would have made had he stayed at just$c* for another year.
Or in the alternative, just think of what a monumental douchebag Cheatie Petie is.

"monumental douchebag"
is a hilarious and appropriate term.
“Liar” is another term that is not as hilarious, but is just as appropriate.
Note how CBH dealt with Jrue Holiday going pro, given how critical he was to this year’s team and how unprepared he was for the NBA.

I second that
Monumental douchebag is genious and so fitting. Classless dope also comes to mind.
I have to say, while this is a first for me, I find that i semi-root for Sanchez. My disdain for cheaty far surpasses how I feel about Sanchez. I wanted him to have a decent rookie season to prove peter wrong. I still don’t know why a star QB, or anyone else for that matter, would want to play for that selfish weasel.

That is something recruits have to think about
when deciding on whether or not to go to SC. There will come that time when they have to decide where their paycheck will come from: NFL or USC? Well if you go to the NFL you might get more and its legitimate, but if you stay at SC you don’t get a paycheck at all but CASH MONEY which is TAX FREEEEE!!!
I feel real sorry for all who have had to make that fateful and difficult decision.
Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.
I don't really have anything against Palmer
other than he’s a trOJan. He has always seemed professional to me (and I believe he was even considering UCLA).
It pleases me to see Sanchez do well because it makes Petey look like the ass that he is.
Don’t expect a repeat of this score next week though.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
Sorry, Tasser, but "professional"?
All I think about when I hear Palmer’s name mentioned is that ad where he’s eating the hot dog.
He's a good guy
but that ad was quite unfortunate…

in an interview...
Al Borges said his biggest regret from his time at UCLA was when they passed on Carson Palmer and offered Ryan McCann. I believe his HS signing class would have coincided with our 20-game win streak. This plus Losman jumping ship the next year started the wheels of our decline.
