Two Recruits Make Unofficial Visits to UCLA Tonight
According to Jon Gold of Daily News sports, "Jordan Zumwalt and Dietrich Riley are on unofficial visits to UCLA tonight..."
Hopefully we can give these guys a good last impression.

Yep
Both of these guys are taking an “unofficial” to UCLA after their official visits to Southern Cal. lol Note I believe Zumwalt took another “unofficial” to UCLA right before he went over to Southern Cal.
I just saw this
and this can only be considered good news. They just left their official visits to USC, so unless they are just stand-up guys and want to tell CRN to his face that they are going to be Trojams………then this is good news. That typically doesn’t happen often, or ever. So just based on history, this is great news that they have built up a good enough relationship with CRN and his staff to come to Westwood right after their official to South Central.
I think if we can somehow get a verbal from these two before signing day, it could really help us with Heimuli, Owa, and Pullard.
I swear, if CRN somehow pulls the impossible and is able to get Riley, Zumwalt, Pullard, Jefferson, Owa, and Heimuli………..then he is a god. If he is able to get 4 of the 6, he is the man. Keep working coach. There isn’t a better university in the world, and these guys are smart enough to see through Lamey’s schtick this weekend and come to Westwood tonight to hear the truth from a man with some characater. You go coach!
I don't think...
…we get both Pullard and Zumwalt. I’d expect one of them, but not both. Owa, I think, ends up at Cal, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we brought in Jefferson, Heimuli, and either Zumwalt or Pullard. I think in the end, Riley sticks with the chumps from across town.
I think Owa eliminated Nebraska B
It’s either Oregon State or us I believe. That’s what the latest indications are at least.
really?
wow that’s shocking to me. I expected him there too.
Has there ever been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?

If that's true
I really like our chances. I thought he’d end up at Cal or Nebraska, and with him eliminating both programs, then that’s huge for us. Not that OSU is a weak school, but you have to love our chances with him if Nebraska is out of the picture.
But we have the edge...
…in a lot of things that appeal to young men: location, atmosphere, diversity of the female student body, and well, our Dance Team. ;)
Definitely
Also, let’s put this is way with Nebraska out of the picture (at least from what we have heard via background chatter), our chances improved from 33% to 50%. :-) That’s something.
Check this out on Riley's Facebook
DCuatro Riley Off to Westwood!!
Malcolm Jones i expect u to be in that powder blue come wedsday

Yup very 1st post our 5 Star Gatorade Player of the Year.
Do not communicate with those guys online
Especially if you are a “booster” as defined per NCAA provisions. Just thought I’d give you guys that reminder again. :-)
Got to love Malcolm though
Kid is showing his true Bruin spirit and he’s not even officially a Bruin yet. Very excited to see what that kid can do in the backfield.
exactly
I just sent a message to a “hardcore” bruin fan that was commenting all over Riley’s facebook. Hopefully he’ll take my advice and shut up until next week.

holy crap
(sorry about the double post)
it looks like this guy has facebook-friended ALL of our recruits. It looks like he’s been all over Owa’s page as well. Don’t these people understand anything???

Clearly a Trojan douche bag
trying to make it look like one of our guys is stepping all over the line.

Riley's Wall is public
I looked him up through my wife ’s account and I am pretty sure he is not friends with a 39 mother of 2 with a 3rd on the way.

Hopefully not a booster
Can you tell how old he is? Maybe he is a student?
his name is Camilo Morales
look him up on facebook. His profile picture is the monopoly ad from the la times. He’s been contacting many of our high profile recruits… just look at his wall.

And
He got into an argument with Tony Dye about whether Kobe is better than LeBron.
Seems like he just made an account to talk to Riley. Strange.

Maybe a new entry
for the BN Lexicon? Bumbed = dumb + bummed.
“Here” provides a second source for the "dumb "part. Three exclamation marks, frankly, adds to my mirth. Thanks for the laugh, Mexi.
Zumwalt will not make his decision known
until Wednesday.

Is he adding to the drama or detracting from it
by not announcing it or doing anything with the press and instead faxing in his LOI and calling it a day? He adds to the intrigue, but keeps things quieter.

Oh I meant in a positive way
I love the fact that he is not doing a big announcement (I think Barr did the same). It’s very old school. I meant that … if it all lines up for us on Wed … it’s gonna be some kind of explosion. But I will keep my expectations modest. I am already pretty ecstatic in how it has all turned out so far this year.
Oh most definitely
I don’t blame the kids for creating some drama if they want either. This is a once in a lifetime thing for them so I don’t mind if they have fun with it. My comment wasn’t meant to sound negative or really positive either. I was just kinda typing what I was thinking.

Ryan, Nestor, Group
Do you think Pullard and Zumwalt are watching each other? Do they both play MLB?
I think they will find a way to fit in really well together
If we are fortunate enough to have both.
Given our depth at DT
If we got both, we’d be more suited to run a 3-4 defense, but I can’t see that happening. Since none of our current DTs have the size to be a NT in a 3-4 scheme and all of our LBs are pretty young (except for Ayers), I don’t think it’d be a great fit.
I’d rather have two good MLB recruits and not know how to play, rather than have neither. Those are the kinds of problems I hope our Bruins have down the line.
I don't think so
I think both will make whatever decision they make independent of each other.

Per the rumors on Scout
Pullard is down to USC and UCLA. According to posters there, his Facebook reads:
“USC OR UCLA??? WHICH 1 IS IT GOING TO BE…..HMMM”
Apparently, in the comment thread our new commit, Cassius Marsh, chipped in:
dog be a bruin…. im telling you we are gonna take over LA and we will actually get to play in bowl games….
Good to see our recruits trying to help us out, and even more amusing since our recruits are telling their peers U$C is going to get nailed by the NCAA.
that's really interesting
Are there any restrictions on other recruits attempting to sway an undecided kid?
Nope
and it’s very common. Especially guys who commit very early in the process spend months and months in the ears of other recruits trying to get them to join them. A couple years back Tony Dye and his entire family was instrumental in landing a couple guys.

Charles O'Bannon
was instrumental in getting the class of Toby, JR, Kris and Omma. Kids during that time just wanted to be around Chucky! He had that magnetic personality. I remember when we were able to beat out Kentucky/Pitino for O’Bannon, we were excited about CO was going to help bring in a banner class the following season. And boy did that ever work out. Good times.
I remember that.
I walked out of Bruin Brawn and saw Harrick and asked him was was up with COB he just smiled and said “We got him”
Marsh is gonna fit in great here
we will actually get to play in bowl games…
LOL

Going to bowls,
apparently, that’s crazy talk this time of year.
Woohoo, I get to look forward to another 7-6 season ("at best") in 2010! There's nothing like going to Idaho for a bowl game.
With two days remaining
Why would two highly talented recruits with two days remaining be for national letter of intent
day take a last minute visit? I think it’s all good news for UCLA.
GO BRUINS.
Usually it's good for us...
…but sometimes kids want to see all their options one last time before they choose. You could make the argument that Zumwalt is not sold on Stanford and that’s why he’s visiting UCLA and U$C. On the other hand, you could say the kid wants to make sure UCLA and U$C weren’t for him before pulling the trigger on Stanford.
Think back to when you were trying to decide where to go to school. It’s a big decision and you want to make sure you get it right.
honestly, the kid has to be torn between Stanford and UCLA
Both have great campuses, athletic traditions and academics. It’ll come down to if he likes the coaches at UCLA or Stanford better I think and playing time. But he’s a middle linebacker and Reggie Carter just left, so maybe that’s swinging it in our favor. And he’s a Southern California kid I believe so he’ll be closer to home. So Cal is probably out of it, unless Monte Kiffin made a big impression.
I also think seeing a big beast 4 star guy like Cassius Marsh change commitment will help us as well. Can you imagine Zumwalt, Marsh, Heimuli, Epanesa, Pullard, Owa, and some of the guys we already have like Holmes, Ayers, and Graham competing for that front 7? Good God!
Pro Bowl
I hope I’m not too off topic, but it was so nice to see Maurice Jones-Drew out there tonight. Another wonderful Bruin. And yeh…he scored!
First Pro Bowl
MJD had a good debut in his first-ever Pro Bowl. I expect to see him there on an annual basis. Kid is a machine.
I just glanced at RIcky Heimuli's facebook page
this is what he said last wednesday:
“ess den a week away nd yet i still dnt kno wea i wna go…. holy cow diz iz gna be harder den i thought…. thnx to erywun nd all da skoolz has showed interest, it really meanz alot, nd i hope dat erywun knowz dat wea eva i go, itz strictly business, nofin personal… hopefully i make da rite choice… thnx agin erywun!!!”
Yeesh, it’s hard to read through that.
that makes Rosario's twitter look normal
i didn’t have issues reading his message but…this is something else lol

Ahh young people: killing the English language one word at a time.
Harry Potter made reading through that...?... a bit easier
Looks just like one of Doby’s dialogues.

get off your high horse
reading is fabulous and if it takes JK Rowling to get kids to read then I’m totally cool with it.

Loved me the Potter books!
Just cuz you read the Twilight series doesn’t mean you’re cooler :)
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
Four points
1. Reading is cool. Harry Potter is not cool. Hence, the cool way to read is to read stuff that isn’t Harry Potter.
2. Twilight might be the only thing lamer than Harry Potter.
3. Captain Leebeard loses 20 cool points for having no sense of humor and being a complete stick-in-the-mud.
4. tasser10 gets bonus points for an excellent retort.
There's some
Week, away, yet, still, holy, cow, harder, though, has, showed, interest, really, hope, business, hopefully, make, choice.
Young people and their text message English. LOL.
Please ....
make …. it …. stop ….
Can’t …. arghhhh!!!
I think the post killed Fox
As a mid-un, all I want is a translation of what the young-un said.
Geezer in training.
Man that was rough
(signing day is) less than a week away and I still don’t know where I want to go. Holy cow, this is going to be harder than I thought. I like to thank all the schools that have show an interest in me. It really means a lot to me. I want to let everyone know that wherever I go, it’s strictly business, nothing personal. Hopefully I make the right choice. Thanks again everyone.

Marquis Jackson Update
http://wearesc.com/news/story.php?article=2902
Rumors about Jackson’s academic standing have been floating around the internet during the past several weeks, but he addressed them head on.
“I have nothing to worry about with that,” he said. “I’m handling my business in the classroom.”
Yea
just read that. Sounds wonderful, hopefully he will actually be able take care of business and transfer. He could be a potential starter this year!

not so optimistic
history tells us otherwise. Until he is enrolled in classes, I’m gonna cross my fingers. Hope you’re right though.
What happens on an official visit?
(At UCLA that is, not as just$c*, where they get their bank accounts, plasma TV’s, baby’s mama’s boss’s car, etc., all lined up.)
What happens at UCLA? And what can they show on a Sunday night? I think our campus shows better in the daytime. Who does what with these guys?
By Sunday night the recruits are usually gone
They usually head home on Sunday afternoon. Friday night whoever their hosts are usually take them to parties and Saturday they go to CRN’s for a BBQ often.

both guys have been to the campus on multiple occasions
so it’s not an issue of showing the campus. anyone know if di paolo was still there when riley and zumwalt were?

gotta love...
1) unexpected sunday night recruiting news. man i was jonesing for recruiting updates, there has to be a medical term for this haha.
2) the sc reaction to the hint of riley flipping on them. after all that now riley is “afraid to compete.” right… i mean i know therewere some negative comments when nottingham flipped, but you see the gap in class between the two fanbases.
