"Our lack of defense transformed over to our lack of offense," Lee said. "When you're playing good defense, that just leads over. I don't know - mental breakdowns, guys missing breakouts - that leads over to the offense. It's not a fact, but I think it plays a mental game on you."

Well I'm glad he gets it
Now will he and his teammates be able to do something about it? Knowing is half the battle. It’s the other half of the battle I’m worried about.
The more I hear from ML, the more I like him
He’s not saying things like this as an excuse, just stating what it is. I get the impression that he knows he needs to get better at these things, as does the entire team and the way he speaks on big picture issues without throwing people under the bus leads me to believe that he is beginning to step up as a leader.

Yes, I like him too.
He does get it.
Actually, I like all of our kids. I think they will get it, some sooner than others.
sjh
I'm with you
I like all our guys. There has only been one guy I didn’t care for and that was Jrue Holiday. Not because he left, but because I feel that he didn’t want to be at UCLA. He was just doing the minimum to get to the NBA and didn’t seem to care. In SHARP contrast you have Kevin Love, who also knew he was leaving. but left his heart and soul on the court for UCLA. Holiday was just mailing it in.
This year is a tough one. Look at the seniors we have. Good guys, but no natural leaders and no “great” players. I think the sophmores will improve greatly as well as the freshman. I think Reeves Nelson will have a huge Bruin career before its all said and done. Stay positive and GO BRUINS!!!

This proves my point
There was the idea that UCLA is recruiting the wrong type of people, that is a common misconception.
If you were to talk to any UCLA "denier", one of the biggest problems that they have is how strict Howland is with his players. A few players that I know went to other schools strictly because Howland is a real "tree-trimmer" so to speak. Much like Wooden, Howland is cutting down a bunch of these Prima-donnas and this is the most friction he’s ever gotten.
Players know damn well that Howland is going to be strict, even if they were Juniors in High School. Howland knows that too, I think that the idea that this is a "perfect storm" is basically true, and this quote proves it… to me at least
