WWL: Cheatey/'Hawks Reach Deal, U$C's Classless Treatment Of Recruits (Some For Us?)

Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N

Just saw on the WWL that Pete Carroll has agreed in principle to be the next head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.  All I can say is, Asta La Vista Cheaty!!  However, what I found remarkable from reading the article this morning on ESPN was this (HT Blue Me) (emphasis added):

When the news broke Friday that Carroll could be headed to Seattle, USC’s incoming freshman class at the U.S. Army All American Bowl in San Antonio began frantically calling USC’s assistant coaches. For the rest of the day, not a single USC assistant returned a single phone call, according to sources at the game.

By now, calls might have been returned. But witnesses to the scene said that players such as All-American wide receiver Kyle Prater and running back Dillon Baxter could not figure out what was unfolding with Carroll. Baxter, for one, had verbally committed to USC as a high-school freshman and never looked at another school. But now that Carroll is expected to leave USC, other schools already have begun contacting the players scheduled to enroll there in the fall with hopes they will change their mind.

Usually, when something like this happens, the assistants, or an assistant, will call recruits or take the reins until the smoke clears.  Not as SUC!  No way.  All those recruits you have been "competing" for the past 1-2 years can all just screw themselves and don't deserve nothing.  Way to go SUC.  These high school recruits have finally seen the true colors of all the coaches as SC.  It is all about them, it is all about Pete.  Just ask Corp.  Just ask Sanchez.

Star-divide

Now that Pete is gone, and he is taking with him all of his cheating assistant coaches, the guys they have been wooing don't even get a return phone call?  I guarantee you that when those guys calld a few days ago, Norton or Carroll would have stopped breast feeding their children to accept the call.  Now, just a busy signal or a voicemail from all u$c coaches.  Talk about little class.

It is all imploding at SC, and I can't see how any coach, no matter who it is, can save this recruiting class and the rest that are in it.  As a note, Gold has reported that D. Riley  decided to take an official visit to Westwood this weekend, at the last minute.  I wonder if Cheaty Petey leaving for the Northwest had anything to do with Riley coming to Westwood this weekend.  One thing is for sure, D. Riley will be feeling the love this weekend, and hopefully will see that being a Bruin will be special real soon!

It's on now.

And as I turn it on, and before I can get the sound off, the blowhard announcer is saying that a kid who just ran out of the shotgun was told by the coaches at just$c* that they were going to put in the shotgun just for him. Hmm. I thought the Seahawks already had a shotgun.

As I typed this, I had the sound on, and all they talk about is the guys going to just$c – have they not been following things?

Memo ro 4 and 5 star U$C high school recruits

Well, if you had made plans to live in L.A. for the next 4-5 years, get an education at a top ranked university, and play some football with a great coaching staff — guess what — you can! The place is called UCLA, it’s a dozen miles and a million attitudes west of U$C, with a beautiful campus and some of the greatest colleges and graduate schools in the world.

The coaching staff includes the very passionate Rick Neuheisel and offensive genius Norm Chow. And no SCandals.

So, if you want to play football in L.A., UCLA is the place to do it.

Bleeding powderkeg blue and gold for 55 years. Go Bruins!

But remember, contrary to what Petey told you, you will have to work hard, play hard, and study hard! There are no Senora Ross’ classes here at UCLA!

Dietrih Riley on Official Visit right now

Per Gold: http://insidesocal.com/ucla/2010/01/already-shaking-things-up.html

Nottingham also will be here. I read how Nottingham was going to recruit for us when he verballed just like Brehaut last year. Maybe he’s here to convince them UCLA is the place.

During the Army game, announcers noted that Baxter was contacted by UCLA but I just don’t see it We already have James and Jones who I am high on and don’t see the need to add another TB when we have more pressing needs.

Staff is on Uko, Grimbe and Woods already. Woods is said to be visiting on the 15th which is another one of our big recruiting weekends. Grimble is a question mark though. His HS has sent numerous kids (DeMarco Murray, Ryan Reynolds, etc) to OU. Uko would be nice to get.

word is he will have final say on the roster

Wooten's quote

They can hire Pete Carroll if they want. But he cannot be anything more than a head coach. He does not have control of the draft. He does not have control of the trades. He does not have the last word on anything other than the 53 men he puts out on that field each and every week.

Dickie V tore Carroll a new one this morning on ESPN

On the Georgetown/UConn broadcast, ESPN ran the headline about Carroll agreeing in principle to a $35 million contract. Rather than the expected plaudits about how much success Carroll had at SC and good luck in the NFL, Dick Vitale just lit right into Carroll for taking his “posse” out of town while legal troubles loom over the program. He basically accused Carroll of abandonment, and bemoaned the fact that Carroll will get the fat contract while the athletes and the SC program will get the shaft if the NCAA investigations bear fruit.

I’m not a fan of Dukie V, but I got a newfound respect for the guy after this morning’s rant.
