Center Court: Ben Ball (Stanford) Open Thread

Well here we go. Are we going to be treated to the same old story of following up a good win with another dispiriting and listless effort? Why am I dreading of another UCLA basketball game in which we are going to settle for three point shots and matador defense on the other end of the court. While some are excited about the three point shots Dragovic and Roll made to keep us close during the second half of the Cal game, I am dreading how both of them are going to go cold from beyond the arc this afternoon at Maples.

Stanford is going to be fired up and ready to make a statement at Maples this afternoon. The tip off is scheduled for 3:07 pm PST and it will be broadcast on Prime Ticket. For us to have any shot in this game we will need our guys to play tough hard-nosed, fundamentally sound defense (mixing in zone with man-to-man), show patience on offensive end setting up high percentage shots, and get it done on the FT line. It's hard for me to get hopeful about the game when we have to anticipate Nikola Dragovic leading the way. The Bricklayer of Belgrade has emerged as the most polarizing sports figure in UCLA sports world since Karl Dorrell, as he consistently finds a way to emerge as the MVP (for the other team) while going off from the 3 point line once in a blue moon.

Anyway, I will be here to take my medicine on way or another. You can catch up on all our game notes over here. If you want to follow the game online you can do so via our official site. As always, we will be here in the game threads with our rapid fire takes and commentary. So let's get this party started. Fire away.

GO BRUINS.

I propose that we no longer refer to Nikola Dragovich as anything but ....

1. Bob : ie.. N’s Bricklayer of Belgrade moniker or…

2. Raguvich: Since there is no D in his name and only the bottom half of his O.

We get two regional Fox channels

FS West and FS Prime Ticket. Prime Ticket used to be called FS West 2, but they changed the name a couple years ago as homage to Prime Ticket, a channel from years back that covered local LA sports.

FSPT

If the game is on Prime Ticket in the local area (generally Nor Cal and So CAl), then it comes on FCSP in a remote area. If the ucla game is on FSN in the local area, then the game can come on FCSP, FSW or the local FSN channel in your area. To get FCSP (which gives you the majority of the games) – its about 10 bucks on Time Warner and ATT. On ATT, you actually get FSPT so you get the bruin live and interviews afterwards. Feel free to add or correct anything else.

We are the worst offensive shooting team I have ever seen, that is Stanfords D. That coupled with a turnover 1 out of 3 trips down the floor makes everyones D look great.

However, the argument that he shouldn’t get a lot of mins because he looks lost on D doesn’t make a lot of sense, considering Dragovic is the ultimate posterchild of someone looking lost, confused and disinterested in playing D.
