I like to read the opinions posted on BN. Most of them I think make good sense and explain why we are in the situation that we find our Bruin football program in. I can feel level of frustration not only in BN, but the many fans that attend the UCLA football games. I myself feel like a crash test dummy because the lack of commitment that the Bruin players have to play with passion and heart that is required at division I level. It also sickens my stomach on how irresposable the Bruin coach(es) have not developed the UCLA football program to the level it should be at this point and time.
CRN should stop sugar-coating and finding reasons why they got beat so badly. How can you be serious and say that he is proud of the way the team came out to play in the second half of the game. Is he the head coach half of the time? Is he getting paid as the head football coach half of the time? CRN should stop and smell the coffee (for lack of another word). It was not like they lost by a few points and the team was playing consistently well every game. We were never even remotely in the Cal game from the kickoff. Seriously, we looked like " the bad news bears" (no pun intended) playing against Cal.
I do not care to hear anyone say that we do not have the caliber of players that other well known football programs have because teams win as a unit and not as individuals. Remember when Michael Jordan scored an excess of 50 points in a game and the Bulls still lost the game.
I am sure that every single Bruin football player has played football at another program (high school or other organized teaml) before arriving at UCLA. What do I mean by this... Look at our sad quarterback situation. We have about 5 or so quarterback in the Bruin roster, and can anyone thruthfully say that we will be fine in that department. We have not had a quarteback since Cade, how long ago is that. If you were the head coach of a big school like UCLA, wouldn't that be a top priority. CRN should look at Boise State,Northwestern, Kansas State, Rutgers and recruit from where they have been. C'on coach, seriously.
Maybe I have a better position from my seat at the Rosebowl or from my livingroom couch, to tell you all that Kevin Prince is not the answer. We are shooting ourselves in the foot with him. Is this harsh on Kevin, maybe, but this is reality folks not wishfull thinking. Can a frog turn into a Prince?
How can we fix this out of control train going down the path of distruction? If we are serious about this, then Dan Guerrero needs to put a stop to it. Maybe it's time for Dan to pull all of the coaches resumes back when they applied at UCLA and read it back to them individually. You see, any kind of success happens one of two ways, inspiration or perspiration. Dan it's time to tighten the screws before the team and fans jump off this train.
