Ok ladies and gents, I have been reading this blog off and on for the last few years, and have just now gotten into the game of actually contributing to the commentary instead of just reading what everyone else says.
Let me just say the negative feelings towards our boys needs to be shelved. I too can be a Debby Downer about our team: I drove down to the Rose Bowl from San Jose to watch us get manhandled by Stanford. To make matters worse I drove down and back with Stanford alums (the back to the Bay Area part being hardest)... anyways, I booed the hell out of the team throughout the game, and booed CRN when he addressed the fans at the end. For me, the Stanford game soured my outlook of our team (vs expectation) to the lowest point it could have possibly been. I felt the team deserved to know about my frustration.
Boy was I out of place. I should be ashamed of being ashamed of our boys. These guys put their bodies, and possibly their future cognitive abilities, on the line week in and week out for us. They have just as much pride as we do for being Bruins, if not more. Yes, losing hurts, but to me not having UCLA athletics would hurt more. We need to appreciate our status and be proud of who we are. We are the mother ***king BRUINS, and NOBODY can take that away from us.
I guess what I'm trying to say is be happy we won today, be happy we're alive (meaning our tickers are ticking), and most importantly be happy we're BRUINS! (EMPHASIS ADDED!).
GO BRUINS! (NO MATTER WHAT)!!!
