Watch this post game video of David Carter:
Here is the key nugget from senior DL's post game comments to Jon Gold:
We could have schemed a lot better. They schemed us very well. That is where they got us.
Then we have this from Akeem Ayers on the defensive cluster**** in Oregon:
"There were plays where we were in a man defense and some of the people in the secondary thought we were in a zone and we were leaving people wide open," UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers said.
It gets uglier:
"It’s hard to communicate sometimes and you’re trying to get the (defensive scheme) call and they’re already lined up and the opposite corner needs the call and it’s tough," UCLA All-America free safety Rahim Moore said. "But that’s no excuse, we need to get the call.
"That was the main key at the beginning."
Said Ayers, "Early on it was all us. We were out of our gaps, blown coverage. We’d call the defense in and half of the field is playing this defense. It was more on us then them just beating us straight up."
It's best I keep my mouth shut on our defensive coordinator. The words of his players and our eyes on the debacles we have been seeing week after week (during conference plays) tell us all we need to know at this point. The question is going to be how Rick Neuheisel handles this mess.
Oh and this is getting old:
"Today was unacceptable and I just want to apologize to our fans, to the people who believe in us because man that’s not us and it’s embarrassing and I’ll take the blame for everything and I’m going to do every thing I can to make sure we turn this around," Moore said.
"Getting beat like this unacceptable, this is embarrassing. Football, is a game too precious for us to go out there like chumps."
Don't care much for apologies at this point. Words are hollow when they can't be backed up. Tired of UCLA defense looking like bunch of chumps week after week.
GO BRUINS.
