Trogan-to-English: Lane Again + bonus Baxter

It will come as no surprise that this week's lesson is once more a Kiffin kaboodle.  As usual, you can read the whole story here, then examine Lane's statements and their true meaning.  Then at the end there's extra credit for Dylan Baxter.

"I don't think we tackled very well, especially in the secondary."

It's about time I fired my defensive coordinator.

"We're still in the thinking process..."

Something very new at this place.

"... instead of playing really fast."

And loose.  And, as I just mentioned, without thinking.  Like my man Jarrett.

"The conference being so deep..."

I have a win against the deepest, WSU.  Wish we had the good old days with a lousy conference we could dominate without much effort, you know, like our kids are used to in the classroom.  On those occasions when they accidentally happen in.

"... you've got to come ready to play every week."

Which I am being paid millions to ensure.  You saw how I inspired the guys in the home game against Virginia, and in this revenge game against the Huskies.

"We're getting ready to play a great team..."

Well, a ranked team.  I'm trying to make an excuse in advance, even though some observers might note that the great team in question just got whipped 28-0 in the second half against the only rated team they've come up against.

"This is not the old SC."

When Garrett and Haden were on the cheating teams, the NCAA looked the other way, and that's changed.  But in recent years we have paid our players more exorbitantly than McKay's support team did, and our arrest record is holding steady.

"You're looking at a team that was 5-4 in conference last year..."

Because Coach Carroll couldn't win without me there calling the 4th-and-2 plays for him.

"We're going to have a lot of close games..."

I'm helping the alumni lower their expectations.  Given Dad's defense, even Notre Dame will give us a game this year.

Now we translate Lane's prized, and most representative, recruit.  Dylan Baxter explains how inspired Lane has made him in the following article, with code-breaking.

"I've been going through the motions."

Academically, of course, after all that's what Ogre promised when we purchased, oops, recruited me.  But also in football, which is the only reason SC admitted me in the first place.

"Since I've gotten here I haven't given my full effort."

Except at partying, including the offense that we don't identify that got me suspended.

"I just think I need to work harder."

I was expecting developmental help from an offensive coordinator, but you know how that goes.

"I was being <stubborn>."

Acting like a pampered prima donna.  You know, like a typical Trogan footballer.

"It seemed like the last couple weeks, especially, my effort lacked."

Particularly after the inspiring motivational talks from Coach Kiffin
