Bumped. Amazing pics. GO BRUINS. -N
Hey BN! Great game tonight, huh? I'm just happy that I'm not cursed. Last year, I came to UCLA from a Big West school (UCI) and we went 0-2 vs the Big West. I was at both games. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous when I signed up for this game; CSUN won the Big West last year and put on a pretty convincing display at the show. It turned out not to be a big deal at all, because we came out and put on quite a display ourselves. I'm pretty sure we were up by 20 by the time they made their first FG (the 15-0 run referenced in the recap ended on a FT). This text part is a lot longer than it usually is, so I'm going to put a picture in now.

Tyler Honeycutt puts two easy points up on the fast break. I really like all of the facial expressions in this picture. More after the jump!
Despite what you might think, this game wasn't even as close as the score would suggest. Just like we did with Westmont and (I'm assuming, I wasn't there) CSULA, we jumped out to an early and large lead, then the intensity dropped. I don't blame them, CSUN never threatened, and I'm sure it's awfully hard to get fired up to continue beating on an opponent who's already 40 points down (this is not an exaggeration; we did lead by 41 with ~7 min. left). If we can continually play with the intensity we had before we had a comfortable double-digit lead, we can be scary good. Tonight, we got to see how good D leads to lots of fast breaks. Especially during the first half, the defense was suffocating, forcing CSUN to attempt (and clank) shots from way outside. We also racked up 17 steals, led by (wait for it) Jerime Anderson, whose play has improved greatly since last year (especially defensively!), but has yet to grow out of some of his more frustrating habits, especially on the fast break. Anthony Stover and Brendan Lane were both incredible in the paint, racking up 4 and 3 blocked shots, respectively. On to the pictures! As usual, click for big. This one seems appropriate:

I can't remember whether this actually was one of BL's blocked shots or not, but it certainly looks like it.

"Play #3: Foul Joshua Smith!" What's Play #2? Hell if I know. JS2 takes up space (and a charge!)

Coming back from a timeout, they're all business.
