Football and hoops at same time
This may interest only me, and admittedly, I haven't been a Bruin fan for as long as some of the geezers here. But looking at the preseason NIT schedule for hoops made me realize that UCLA football and basketball will be playing at the same time next week:
Football at Arizona State: Friday, Nov. 26 at 12:30 p.m. (FSN)
Basketball 3rd place NIT game: Friday, Nov. 26 at 11:30 a.m. (ESPN)
Basketball, NIT championship: Friday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. (ESPN)
Win or lose on Wednesday, we may be forced to be channel flipping and I can't ever remember football and basketball playing at the same time. So I wondered if there had ever been a time where this has happened and looked it up at the archives on the official site:
2009: Never played on same day
2008: Never played on same day
2007: Both played on Dec. 22, but hoops at 11am, football at 5pm
2006: Never played on same day
2005: Never played on same day
2004: Never played on same day
2003: Never played on same day
2002: Never played on same day
2001: Never played on same day
2000: Never played on same day
1999: Never played on same day
1998: Both played on Dec. 5, football during the day, hoops at night
1997: Never played on same day
1996: Never played on same day
1995: Never played on same day
1994: Never played on same day
1993: Never played on same day
1992: Never played on same day
1991: Never played on same day
1990: Never played on same day
At this point, I admittedly got lazy and gave up. I may revisit this later, but figured I'd save myself some trouble and ask if anyone remembers football and basketball playing at the same time before.
So what do we do next Friday if we can't make it to Tempe or New York? Do you focus on football, basketball, switch back-and-forth? I'll probably focus on football (end of season, with still most of basketball to go). And again, I realize I may be the only one amused by this.
Note: for years before 1998, I had to use the online media guides for football and basketball
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

So let's ask you guys this question
Two separate game threads or one big one and then keep adding as needed?
I vote two threads
But maybe one is better, wow.
I usually just lurk the threads to get a feel for the game if I can't watch
Therefore, I would prefer one thread. That way people who are watching one can keep people updated when they are watching the other.
I think we will do what we did during baseball/softball tourney season
We will do a football thread on the home page and a basketball thread in the fanpost section and keep both of them going (and updating with new posts) as necessary.
Who scheduled
a Friday game for 12:30 n the afternoon? I know that game times are set by tv networks, at least im pretty sure they are, but what advantage does it give us to play in the middle of the day on Friday hen potential recruits are in class and students and alumni are in class or at work?
It's the day after Thanksgiving
Doubt many people are in class or working.

this is very troubling to me
I need to find a way to watch both at the same time

I'm thinking separate game threads
I’m going to try to watch one and DVR the other – though with my son, I’ll probably need to DVR both, which will make for a long night once he’s in bed. (He’s not old enough to sit through a basketball game yet, much less football. I’m working on it!) Granted, it’s hard enough watching a non-UCLA game live when our game is over but I haven’t watched it yet – I can pretty much zone out the score scroll at the bottom, so unless it’s a Pac game, the announcers are unlikely to announce the UCLA score.
However…I suppose it’s hard to imagine the announcers of either game Friday not talking about the score of the other. Still I suppose separate might get my vote, for Bruins trying to watch one game live and the other later.

Oy vey
I didn’t watch any sports events after Dec. 5 1998, for a long, long time…
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
It's also Black Friday
I think the obvious solution is to buy a second tv on sale in the morning and have both games going in the same room.

At least
no matter whether basketball is in the consolation game or the championship game, we should get to watch the first half of one sport uninterrupted before the overlap begins.
