Congrats To All The Giants In Bruins Nation
Congrats to thousands of Bruins - alums and students - from Bay Area who are probably beaming this morning and feeling good about sports.
As a Dodgers fan, I guess I am supposed to be really unhappy, bitter and resentful of the Giants. Too bad I can't feel that way. I think what the Giants did this season with great pitching, solid defense, fundamentals and timely hitting was nothing short of remarkable. They reminded me very much of that magical Dodgers team from 1988, who won it all the old fashioned way without high priced free agents, and roid induced freaks. Good for them.
So cheers to Bruin alums and students who are beaming with Giants pride. We can only hope we experience something like this involving the blue and gold, sometime soon.
GO BRUINS.

Thanks, N
This team was amazing to watch all year. For the past two years, most Giants fans have wondered how much damage the pitching staff could do if they just got into the postseason. Well, the wondering has me a fantastic conclusion. It was great to watch it all unfold.

Amazing, unbelievable ...
As a kid growing up, vainly rooting for the Giants, listening to every pitch on AM radio with Lon Simmons and Russ Hodges, watching McCovey, The Count, Ed Halicki’s no-hitter on my birthday at Candlestick… my brother and I always thought “this would be our year” and it never f**kin’ was. Decades later, after the uber-drama of Barry Bonds, I sort of just checked out on them… then boom, they make an unexpected run and win the whole damn thing.
The world is a weird place.
Now, how about them Bruins following suit.
You are more gracious than I am Nestor
My Hate list goes $UC, Celtics, Giants….
But you are absolutely correct in that this Giant team is very much like that 88 Dodger team.
I also can admit, that was one impressive pitching staff.
Thats about all I can do…..
Congrats to all the Giant loving Bruins out there!!

Agree
My hate list goes SUC, Giants, Celtics
The Giants winning the WS is like the trogans winning the NCAA hoops title.
I agree with WestlakeVillage and 805
I have never rooted for the giants, cannot root for the giants, and would love to see the giants lose every game, except when they play just$c or the raiders or the celtics or the yankees or the red sahx. And let’s throw in the cowboys to boot.
And comeon guys
There are lots of Bruins from Bay Area. Why not take the classy route and let them revel. We do the same when the Lakers win it all or if the Dodgers/Halos do the same. So lighten up. Thanks.
It's a beautiful morning.
Absolutely beautiful.
I went out, dropped off my ballot, and I’m just relishing this gorgeous California day with the eternal optimism around me – that yes, the Giants FINALLY won, with a team that no one said would have a chance, with our awesome pitching staff, the catcher of the future, and a bunch of castoffs and misfits.
Glorious day. Absolutely glorious.
Now if we can get this to rub off on the Niners and the Sharks…
I imagine this is the feeling I would have when we win our next title in basketball or when we return to the promised land in football.
I wish I could go to the parade on Wednesday – I have a meeting from 9-11am. :(
On a side note
We’re trying to remember the sacrifices we made to the baseball gods to have this come to fruition… I wish I could remember. Probably involved a first born. Or a solemn “I will never complain about Brian Sabean again. til next season.”
grats to your giants....
neutral wrt your niners. ha ha ha to your guppies. (but hey at least you ain’t a detroit fan…)

Thanks for the post Nestor
After the whole Barry Bonds fiasco (and I Never really liked him) but my fam did, I was turned off but wanted to see them succeed without him abd after all that drama. San Francisco is a city of beauty, a romantic city at that, and I have very good memories taking trips up there with my mom and dad.
As far the haters, I grew up hating the As but I still wouldn’t wish ill will on them if they made it to the World Series. Same goes for the Dodgers, even after Manny came to la, and I don’t really like him either, I still want to see them do well, unless they’re playing the giants. Guess I am a conundrum when it comes to certain teams, but I will usually root for the Cali love, especially with all that east coast bias, blah blah blah
Let’s hope UCLA sports take a note from this team and focus on winning games with Maximum effort, despite all the nay sayers that said the giants couldn’t make it. They fought hard and persevered and that is what makes me so proud to be a fan!
GO BRUINS!!!

Thanks. Go Giants!
Nestor, thanks for putting up this thread. We all come here for a love of all things Bruin, but beyond that our favorites and preferences are pretty diverse. Growing up in the Bay Area, I rooted for both the A’s and Giants, but have grown closer to the Giants over the years. I was thrilled in 2002 and ultimately crushed when the Giants lost to the Angels. (Well played by the Angels, and they deserved it). This 2010 team was even more fun because 2002 always had the uncomfortable Barry Bonds situation. Most non-Giants fans complain about our rooting for him in spite of pretty obvious chemical enhancement. He was an amazing baseball player, and his steroid usage was actually the saddest part. He was so talented to begin with that he could’ve done extraordinary things on his own. Furthermore, he apparently created a tense and toxic atmosphere in the locker room.
On the other hand, this 2010 version of the Giants was much easier to root for. Young, homegrown pitching, a tremendous cast of interesting personalities, and a real never say die team. It was so much more fun to watch these guys play because it seemed so joyous. This is a special victory because of a special team. No asterisks needed!
Classy Nestor, appreciated
Saw my first Giants game with my dad and brother when I was six. Dad passed over twenty years ago, but my brother and I were there for game 2, raised a glass (or four…) in his honor. Fantastic, beautiful feeling. And for my fellow Bruin fans (even you Giant haters…) I will say that I can’t wait for us to have a similar feeling here in Bruin-land. Because while victory almost always tastes sweet, it’s even more savory when it comes after so many years of frustration. The satisfaction of having hung in there with an underachieving team that finally wins the big one has got to be one of the greatest feelings a fan will ever experience. And we WILL have that experience as Bruin fans. The only question is when…
GO GIANTS. GO BRUINS!!
Amazing!
I went a whole year without watching a single inning of baseball! Maybe it’s because I’m a Cubs fan…
Congrats Giants fans!
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I spent many frigid nights in the upper deck of Candlestick
I saw the tail ends of the careers of the Willie’s (Mays and McCovey). I never really had strong feelings for the Barry Bonds team, but this year’s team was something special.

My only wishes are
for UCLA championships in BB and FB
and for the McCourts to kick the bucket!…or sell the team, whichever comes first!!!
This post made me spit up in my coffee mug
I’m not going to tell you what the Giants win last night did to me.
Rich Ramus
yeah...
only thing that makes me smile was the Giants fans I know that tried to rub it in. I laughed at them and said that it was sad that on their first title in 50+ years, they cared more about what Dodger fans though than actually celebrating their title.
But then I came back to reality and remembered that it will be a long time before we win one. Our ownership is horrible and it doesn’t look like the McCourt era will end anytime soon.
Good point, King
The issue is the next owners will do. We know what the current ownership is all about. As long as they own the Dodgers, the team has no chance. It could be another 50-plus years for the Dodgers to get another worlds championship. So my advice is not to laugh too loudly at the Giants.
(And did I read that Mr. McCourt spent tons of money on haircuts? Obviously he didn’t spend the haircut money on himself. He looks a bit like a …, well, I can’t think of the exact small animal with douchy looking fur, but that’s the figure of speech I was going for.)
Cruelty free baseball
After a full season of close games and nearly missing the post season, we cruised through the World Series.
A total team effort, only our backup catcher missed out on getting some playing time.
Our pitching was outstanding, even Sanchez did well in game 3.
Somehow our bats came alive when we needed them, who would have thought Renteria would hit two home runs?
Even the umpires seemed to call all of the close plays our way. I don’t think that would have changed the outcome of the series but it’s a lot different compared to the calls the SPTR’s make nearly every game.
A lot of fans could learn about class from Giants fans. We gave Bengie Molina a great ovation when he was announced in game 1 and 2 because he helped us get there.
I was clapping out in McCovey cove.
By the way, I’ve been a Giants/49’ers fan since I was old enough to watch sports and I don’t leave a game until the last out has been made.
After hearing Matt Cain pitch 7 2/3 strong, I knew that the Giants had a great chance of winning the series in Texas. I paddled away very happy.
Wrong guy,
I was talking about Eli Whiteside.
I don’t think he had any playing time in the post season. I was hoping that he could pinch hit or something, but with Buster Posey he didn’t have a chance to do any catching.
Dont Stop Believing!!!
That is the message I am taking from this. It might take some time to win a championship like 50+ yrs for Giants and the Blackhawks and almost such for the Saints. It might seem like that long for us Bruin Fans in BB.
I watch locker room/post game celebrations to remind me what is the prize and why to endure when you dont win. And there was a lot of post game coverage for us in the Bay Area. Every channel almost the entire time at 11pm and channel 2(Fox) for like 2 hours after the game. Lots of screaming Giant fans outside shots.
Congrats Giants fans!!! I feel a little regret of not being a fan despite being in your “market territory” of San Jose for all my life except of years at UCLA. But good to see it happen near here.
Lifelong Dodger Fan
Obviously, I can’t stand the Giants. But I found it very hard to dislike this particular group of guys. They got it done the right way. It was a well-earned championship.
