Here's a link to the Ralphie Report home page, Colorado's SB Nation site, with various stories and links.
Dan Hawkins is toast effective immediately. Names discussed, per the Ralphie Report, include:
Former CU running back and current Minnesota Vikings running backs coach Eric Bieniemy and former Colorado head coach Bill McCartney have been rumored as potential candidates to take over for Hawkins, possibly coming back to Boulder together to restore pride in the football program.
Other names floating around include Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain, Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and LSU coach Les Miles although it looks unlikely that LSU would part with Miles after last weekend's win over Alabama.
Les Miles? You're laughing like I was? According to this story
Short of Michigan, Miles has been on the record saying Boulder, CO was his favorite place to live and coach.
Miles was O-line coach and recruiting coordinator under former CU great Bill McCartney. In fact, McCartney's grandson is currently a walk-on QB at LSU pursuing a future coaching career.
Yes, it's from the Bleacher Report, but the facts and statement are in numerous other places - this just summed it up concisely. Not saying I think there's a chance they'd get him, but at least there's some connection there outside of the typical "crappy team wants star coach" dreams that every fan base has when they toss a coach aside.
