Jamaal Wilkes is a Finalist for the Hall of Fame
Jamaal Wilkes, who played for John Wooden as Keith Wilkes, is a finalist for the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2010. Wilkes also starred for the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers:
Wilkes was a member of four NBA championship teams, first in 1975 with Golden State and the Lakers in 1980, '82 and '85. After a stellar collegiate career at UCLA, where he was a member of two national championships, Wilkes won the 1975 NBA Rookie of the Year and finished his 12-year career with an average of 17.7 points per game.
He joins Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, Chris Mullin and others as finalists.

My first reaction upon reading your headline
was, “How is it that he isn’t already a Hall of Famer?”
Hopefully that will be remedied in the very near future.
The best thing you can do for your children is to love their mother. John Wooden
Reggie retired in 06
HoF requires five years of retirement with eligibility in the sixth year, so Reggie should be eligible in 2012.
This is a paraphrase,
not a quote, but Coach was describing what characteristics and skills his ideal player would have. He started describing such qualities as quickness and intelligence, but recognized the impossibility of continuing along these lines, and said something like
“… Oh, just take Keith Wilkes and let it go at that.”
If he’s good enough for Coach, he’s good enough for any HOF.
Silk
Still my All-Time favorite Laker.
The legendary Chick Hearn, noting Silk’s great outside shot, would announce: “Wilkes, 20 foot layup, good”.
I also distinctly remember once that Hearn, referring to Wilkes’ crazy wraparound form on his jumper, said “It is a credit to the greatness of Coach Wooden that he didn’t try to change it”.
Damn, I love my Bruin heritage.
