Smith is definitely massive

I think we can all agree he needs to lose a considerable amount of weight (at least the baby fat) so that he can keep up with the college game.

If Jefferson is a good high school team (I’m not sure), Josh Smith showed some pretty talented defensive moves in the video – and not just shot blocking. I hope he loses that weight before next season starts, because he can easily become an absolute beast down low. And I see what recruiting sites were talking about with his soft hands. He catches it in the low post very well and moves the ball quickly. Natural talent.

Thanks for posting this!

Agree on the weight issue

If Smith doesn’t lose the weight by the start of practice next year, I am sure Coach Howland will introduce him to an aggressive new weight reduction program and it ain’t gonna involve a couple of Jenny Craig shakes. Couple Josh with Reeves Nelson and it could be interesting.

Hate to be negative, but

I suspect Bobo looked that good in high school. I remember watching KL as a hs senior, and he was a revelation. Smith looks like a decent big man with a lot of work ahead.

Jones is also on our list—we’re one of his top four choices—and he had a 20-point, 9-assist night, and his team won.

What I liked best about Smith was the shot-blocking. Put him together not only with RN but also Honeycutt, and that’s a pretty interesting front line.

on the negative front

he did not look like a force on the boards – except on shots that he missed himself and followed.

Not sure if its considered uncool for such a clearly massive person to block out smaller opponents, but he makes no effort to do so.
