Holiday Comes Back to LA But Not "In Time" For UCLA
Apparently Jrue Holiday was in town with the 76ers for a game against the Lakers on Friday night. The '6ers lost and Holiday finished with 8 points (making 3 out of 8), 4 assists and a steal.
Painter has a profile on him linked above. What I find interesting is that Holiday couldn't come to Pauley because "76ers didn't get into Los Angeles in time." Somehow making time for Pauley aren't issues for DC, AA, LRMAM, KL and other Ben Ball warriors who come back to LA.
I wonder if Jrue's team flights will ever get in time for UCLA.

Seems a little unfair to me
Not to say that he really wants to come to campus or does because I don’t know, but the other Ben Ball Warriors don’t get to campus every time they’re in LA because things like flights or practices don’t allow time for it. He may not want to come to campus, but in no way would I make the jump from him saying he doesn’t have time to he doesn’t want to be on campus.

It sounds to me
like you were implying he didn’t really want to come and that if he did want to, he’d have done it. That’s an unfair jump to make, IMO, but it’s just my opinion.

I will wait for the fanshots/fanposts
of pictures or video of Holiday’s visit to Howland’s program next time he swings back to UCLA.
My mistake
I didn’t mean to throw him in there with the rest of them. Poor wording on my part.

DC and RW and KL were all highlighted on tWWL
while Jrue sat out the end of a game for someone that Kobe had to guard, according to the in game announcer!
Go Bruins!
I don't really care if he makes it to campus or not.
He and Freddo Corleone fill the same spot in my thoughts.
You may not believe me but...
The Sixers were practicing at the SAC. I even got to talk to Holiday as he walked back to the bus with the team yesterday…
The conversation went like this:
Me: Hey Jrue, You miss UCLA?
Jrue: I miss the weather
M: So you watch the game?
J: Yeah, my boy tyler is legit and reeves and malcom .
… coversation goes on about how good we will be next year especially if Reeves doesn’t fall on his face…
M: And what about Josh Smith and Tyler Lamb?
J: Yeah, they’re my boys too. I know them
So… basically I’m just saying… at least he follows the games. it’s not like he just packed his bags and left UCLA just to forget us.
That's nice
As I said I look forward to videos/pictures of his return to UCLA, talking up Howland’s program in public.

I was going to take Jrue's comment,
“I miss the weather” personally, but decided that it just must be killing him to see DC lighting up the NBA and displaying what a true UCLA player could accomplish when he trusts his coach, and stays for 4 years. Go Bruins!
it is an interesting comment
While it’s obviously true that LA weather in february is infinitely better than in Philly, his choice to use that as his response to TheWokman’s question is telling. It just adds to the obvious reality that he simply didn’t like his time here. Unlike Gordon though, he kept quiet and didn’t try to start a mutinous revolution. What’s too bad is that Jrue seemed like a nice kid when I talked to him the summer before he started at UCLA. He just didn’t embrace the challenge that Coach Howland’s system brings.
IMO, he’s just another in that group of one-and-dones that think they’re more ready for the NBA than they are. Was he a Bruin? I suppose. Was he a warrior? No. But all things said, as a guy who just didn’t want to be here anymore, I’m kind of glad he left. I hope he does well, but all indicators so far say that he’ll have a relatively short and meaningless NBA career.

In contrast
KL is always rocking his UCLA gear, always talking up Bruins, actively recruiting kids for UCLA (tried to help out with Harrison Barnes), and coming back to campus whenever he can. He never felt like a “one and done” and the way KL has represented himself I would have appreciated him just as much even if he left only after accomplishing half the things he did at UCLA.
Also.
read a comment by KL where he talked about missing UCLA. Almost sounded like he wished he could have stayed longer. I will never hold him leaving early against him…it was the right thing to do considering everybody had him in the top 10.
Holliday is young
Sure it’s an excuse, but I hope that’s the only reason why he doesn’t do much when it comes to UCLA. I’m hoping over time that he matures and appreciates all that the program gave him like Ariza did last year when he mentioned how even being coached by Howland for that one season made him a better defensive player. Until then… he’s on watch as someone I consider a Bruin.
This "young" excuse is really running its course.
I was young when I was accepted in to UCLA. I still consider myself relatively young at the age of 23. Rest assured, had anyone within this UCLA community been as “talented” as a player as Holiday was when they were “young” they would have at least attempted to tie in some affiliation with the school. It’s been pointed out that other players “get it”, Holiday has not demonstrated anything other than how selfish and insignificant his career at UCLA really was.
Is it just me
or did anybody watching the lakers vs sixers game notice that there wasn’t much mention of Jrue attending UCLA. I only recall them mentioning that he was a hometown kid out of Campbell Hall.
I noticed that as well.
Odd and disappointing.

honestly
If I had the year JH had at UCLA, I’d be trying to forget about it too. The “bust” label looms over his head like a guillotine.
