Andy Katz on UCLA Basketball: "Still Alive"
Article on state of UCLA hoops this season in a PAthetiC-10:
Howland said Anderson will play this weekend. And while there might be overall angst in Bruin nation, the reality is UCLA is still very much alive in the chase for Pac-10 regular-season and tournament titles. Who would have predicted that possibility after Anaheim in November? It was hard to predict that the Bruins could be an NCAA tournament team. Now, if they were to get in, we won't even begin to assume the seed since it would have to be double-digit. But at that point, who would care?

What does he say?
I don’t really care that often what Katz has to say (he after all pimped Pat Douglass and Brad Holland for UCLA when we fired Lavin). So when you post fanshots like this … can you share what he has to say?
Don’t mean to be a jerk about it … but just trying to get you guys to be a little more thoughtful when sharing information here.
So what did he say? Anything worth reading? Can you write a one or two sentence teaser with the key quote?
Cliff's Notes version
Katz: As poor as UCLA has played at times this season … the Bruins still have a real shot to win the conference and get to the NCAA tournament.
“I talked about it [zone] in November but unfortunately I didn’t commit to it until January. It was poor coaching,” Howland said. “Looking back at it, if I had committed to it in early December we might have won a few more games or had the potential to.”
Katz on Mustafa: Howland said he’ll get even more time moving forward.
Cool
bb – didn’t mean to come down on you. But we wrote a looooong post telling folks about what we are looking for in fanposts and fanshots. I just made slight edits to your fanshot which I think makes a difference. I don’t feel good about sounding like cranky bloggy “professor.” :-) Just trying to make this a more informative place for everyone. Thanks!
Nah .. no worries
As I have said all season long there is no hope for our team since we are led by the Bricklayer from Belgrade. It’s much easier to deal with the season that way! I have basically gave up all my superstitions during this hoops season.
I lost all respect for Andy Katz
When Syracuse, led by Carmelo Anthony, won the NC; and Katz was the first one on the floor asking Carmelo repeatedly if he was going to go pro. It was like watching a dog dry hump your guest’s leg. I get that he wanted to get the scoop, but at that point it was pretty much a forgone conclusion. Let the man enjoy his trophy! Sheesh.
