Julious Moore Didn't Get To UCLA But Remains "Committed" To Bruins
This is from ESPN (linked above):
Four-star defensive tackle Julious Moore (Bellevue, Wash.) did not sign with the Bruins Wednesday.
Moore said he's unlikely to gain admission into UCLA but is still committed to the program, according to the Los Angeles Times
You have to appreciate Moore's honesty that the issue was academics. Although he hasn't gotten in yet, I really hope he keeps working on his classes and grades and make it in later. It looks like Taniela Maka is going to get it done (at least that's what the indications are) and I hope Moore chooses the same route. If he decides to go elsewhere, I certainly understand but I love how this kid has been honest all along. Good luck to you Julious. We are pulling for you.

100% Agree
Too bad we can’t say the same about Marquis Jackson (who never admitted that it was academics). I love how the Trogans are celebrating the pickup of Jackson. Are they kidding? His freaking brother goes to SUC and he would have gone to UCLA if he had the grades. Awesome recruiting, Lame. Those guys are the laughingstock of the country, and they don’t even know it.
Wow class act
We always wish all these kids the very best regardless, but this is pretty amazing for a kid to be so self-aware that he can be forthright with a touchy subject. Sounds like a Bruin to me (if he can become eligible) but if not, all the best to him.
How bad do your grades have to be
to not get in? Just curious. I mean, I’ve seen three part SAT scores that were combined worse than my two part SAT, and they’ve been considered fine for admission…

you don't even want to know.
I love UCLA with a passion. But even UCLA and Stanford admit some kids with questionably low test scores.
And that’s the high point. You need about half of that to get into just$C. And some can’t even qualify there. Scary thought. The next step is ASU where there are no academic requirements…period.
Someone posted an actual quote of just$c*'s admission's standards
and it was to the effect that they don’t really look at any particular test score, or any particular GPA, but rather they look at each student individually, try to measure what sort of overall impact that person can make on society, the potential for Nobel Prizes and cures for cancer, and also whether they are below 4.2 in the 40.
In other words, it Cheatie (or now if Lane Violation) wants you, you’re in. Period. The only issue is whether how big a house your parents get.
I think the term they used
is “holistic.” You know, like how many “holes” you can open up for Reggie Bu$h/Joe McSUV, etc.

It could be classes.
When I was in highschool there were several different lists of class requirements. One was what you needed to graduate, one was what you needed to qualify for Cal State schools and another was what you needed to qualify for University of California. I’m sure there were other lists for private schools but UC requirements pretty much overlapped everything else. A lot of my highschool classmates were not ellgible for UC.
I wouldn’t have been ellgible if my Spanish teacher hadn’t passed me.
