Bruins On Fire (Women's Basketball/Baseball) Games Thread
They just keep winning and winning and winning. One team (baseball) is 11-0 to start the season, the other (women's basketball) has won nine straight and 13 of their last 14. Two completely different spots, but the men and women in blue and gold are getting it done. Today, both will be in action as the baseball team takes on Mississippi St. at 3 pm PST in Corpus Christi, Texas and the women's basketball team faces those girls from across town in enemy territory at 5 pm PST.
The baseball team will be in action first and Trevor Bauer (2-0, 2.45 ERA) will get the start as he looked to extend the Bruins' record start to 12-0. Mississippi St. has yet to announce a starter, but odds are it will be a freshman left-hander, Chris Stratton (2-1, 2.25 ERA). The Bulldogs got knocked around, 16-5, by Oklahoma yesterday and have yet to defeat a quality opponent this year, but they have a line-up that can mash so UCLA must come to play.
The women's basketball team will look to win their first game at Galen Center when they play SC in the semifinals of the Pac-10 Tournament. Coach Caldwell and Co. dropped their contest at Galen Center earlier this season, but came back to beat the snot out of SC at Pauley and are on a big time roll right now. The one thing the Bruins definitely have in their favor is fresher legs. Last night in their win over Oregon St., no Bruin played more than 26 minutes and 10 different Bruins played at least 13. Now, they'll hope to use those fresh legs to take the season series from SC and secure a spot in the Pac-10 Tournament Championship in a game that will be televised live on FSN.
Two good teams, two big games. The women's game is right here in town so you can still head down to Galen Center, turn it blue and root our Bruins on to victory. If not, the game will be on FSN for the entire country to see. The baseball team can be followed on GameTracker and can be listened to by clicking the audio link next to today's game on the MSU schedule. It's a big day for Bruins and this is your games thread for those Bruin teams on fire so have at it.

Trevor Bauer Struck out the first 4 men that he faced
and after the first two innings has struck out 5. Trying to out duel Cole from yesterday.
TAMU CC and Mussissippi St. can both hit too
These aren’t weak lineups that our pitchers have dominated so far.
Thanks for the updates.

At the end of the 2nd - Bruins 1-0.
Gallego got himself a single with two outs, but got picked off first to end the inning.
Looks like Gametracker err'ed
Bauer gets 2 SO’s in that inning. He now has 7 in the first nine batters that he has faced.
After 3 Bruins 1-0
Bruins picked up a hit in that inning giving them 4 for the day with Dunlap having 2 of those. A double play ended the inning.
after 3 1/2 Bruins 1-0
Bauer strikes out number 8 and finally gives up his first hit, but a ground out ends the inning.
WWP Team
Our women’s water polo team is not bad too.
Just in: No. 4 UCLA Women’s Water Polo Defeats No. 6 Arizona State, 13-6.
Defending 5 time NCAA National Champions.
After 5 1/2 Bruins Holding on the a 1-0 lead.
Bauer get 2 more SO’s and now has 12. He also gave up a walk that was stranded at second base.
at the Galen Center
Stanford up 56-32 on Cal. Alexis Gray-Lawson of Cal just went down hard and wasn’t moving for ten minutes… just got wheeled off on a stretcher and still wasn’t moving. If anyone watching on TV has any updates on her condition it would be appreciated.

After 6 Bruins up 5-0
Bruins score 4 runs on 1 hit and a whole bunch of Mississippi mistakes. 1 fielding error, 2 hit batsmen, a wild pitche, a throwing error and two walks. Did I miss anything?
and BG5 is back on...time for some hoops
Show em how it’s done, ladies.
Beat $C!
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
At the 12 minute break
14 – 7 Bruins, 11:10 left
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
Holy guano Bruins, the boys in Blue are 12-0
Mississippi had some fight left in them in the 9th and scored twice, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their mistakes in the 6th.
Nice way to start a season. Go Bruins.
Tie game
dammit. Come on ladies!!! Can’t let that weasel cooper beat us!

How can you not love Coach Caldwell?
BTW, great job by the band and Bruins showing up at Galen Center. They’re visible and easily the loudest ones there.

Anyone else celebrate
by mentally flipping off Cooper?
Great to see us beat u$c* on their court as the home team.
Cooper
Only a hero because he was a Laker. So why stop at mentally flipping him off. It felt great to do it in person. Congrats to true warriors who represent with class and pride. Nikki is a great Coach and must be rewarded. The Administration should be forthcomming with a contract extension with a significant raise in pay. She and her staff did a great job and the ladies are awesome. Go Bruins!!!
Coach Neuheisal was at the game cheering on the women.
Wonder if Lame was there? It was really neat to see him supporting this team. There were trogans there but they were really quite. We were by far the louder group, more organized. The cheer squad did a great job of getting the noise going, all over. And the band was great. Have you seen suc’s dancers? OMG, I don’t know if they’ve all had face lifts or it’s just way too much make up, but our dancers were awesome. Also, sitting behind the women’s bench, it was great to see some of the players join in the 8 clap and Coach Caldwell was getting them to stand and cheer along with the crowd. What a difference in attitude. Players not to good to cheer with the crowd. Very cool, very fun, great win!
Go Bruins!
