Around SBN: Penn State Recruiting Roundup Is Set For A Big Junior Day

Elite Eight March Madness Open Thread

The second half of the Final-4 equation gets resolved today. Tennessee Volunteers (#6) are taking on Michigan State Spartans (#5) right now Verne Ludnquist/Bill Raftery are calling this game. In the South Regional Final Baylor Bears (#3) are taking on last remaining number 1 seed in Duke Blue Devils. The always boring Jim Nantz and Clark Kellog are calling that game.

I haven't really paid close attention to the tourney but I have enjoyed watching Butler D up whenever I have peaked in. As for the remaing games today, I will just say that the Duke game tips off at 2:05 pm PST. March Madness On-Demand has all the games online again and you can grab it in the widget below. Have fun with it everyone.

Fire away. GO BRUINS.

Yesterday's games were awesome...

looks like this first one is going hot, too.

Just to keep my AD here happy, go MSU.

My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.

Prob not

but just the fast tempo would favor them over MSU

Defense

Always has a way of dictating tempo though. :-)

good point

Some teams might get caught up in that, but Izzo’s good enough to not let his team get away from its game.

Butler coach on at halftime.

Didn’t you say it yesterday, N, that Stevens will be getting a lot of phone calls? Do you think Indiana is looking?

Anyone else thinking

that what these two teams have managed to do after key injuries/dismissals shows the weakness of any excuses we could have this year for the same?

Our team looks so undersized (not height but mass). These players have muscle. Most of ours look like they have high school kids bodies. I hope our guys are watching…get strong and play defense.

Go Bruins!

I love the photo of Izzo.

I have always loved his spirit and personality of him and his teams. If only he’d slick back his hair more, he could be a good coach.

Go Bruins!

Uh, no, Verne...

Baylor does not have a medical school.

Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX), has been an independent institution from since the 1960’s, and is not affiliated with Baylor University.

hat's off to Pearl

for having the courage to take a top-15 team, scrap it’s best players entirely for being morons, and rebuild within the same year to be in this position. Consider me impressed.

Good for Michigan St.

I have a lot of respect for Izzo. Hope they do well, though they’ll have a tall order considering they’re playing the hometown favorite (and supposed underdog).

Tom Izzo

Does anyone get more from his team, year in and year out, esp with fewer big name players than most?

Now, let’s get a 3rd number 5 in. I hate Duke.

but still an odd and a prime, so it’s pretty much the same.

Two 5's in

Not the best job of seeding, Guerrero.

greg in denver - UCLA guy for life

by gbruin on Mar 28, 2010 1:43 PM PDT reply actions

Or is it good seeding. The 1's would have been the 1's no matter who did it.

The competitiveness of the tournament says to me that they made good brackets.

Go Bruins!

by uclaluv on Mar 28, 2010 1:45 PM PDT up reply actions

I know

just mocking a bit. After the 1’s and 2’s, there was a lot of parity this year. It has made for a very fun tourney.

Why do they have AD's and conference commissioners

instead of actual basketball people? Former coaches (actual intelligent ones, not people like Lavin) would add for a nice mix.

The Lizard is not a "former coach"

he was never a coach. Coach Lavin = oxymoron. Or just plain moron.

Rye, your baseball coverage has been great. You were so on top of this before the season that I got interested in it. And, I’ve been loving it ever since.

I honestly can’t say I hate Duke as much as most, but I’d definitely side against them when I get the chance.
I’ll reserve my hatred for the trogans and any coach who tries to imitate their tactics (cough Calamari cough).

this Baylor team is gonna be pretty dran good again next year. They probably lose Udoh but the gain a sick sick sick frosh in Perry Jones. Watch this and try not to think of Durant/Beasley:

no call on Duke guy elbowing the Baylor player in the face after he had his TO granted.

greg in denver - UCLA guy for life

by gbruin on Mar 28, 2010 4:13 PM PDT up reply actions

meh

that breaking up of a hold rarely gets called. Baylor player should also release him as soon as the ref blows the whistle; they just normally give both guys a little leeway.

Certainly there wasn’t very much in the second incident; but the guy has no-one to blame but himself.

by britishbruin on Mar 28, 2010 4:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Baylor has a ton of blocks and contested shots

they have been playing very aggressive defense- which accounts for part of the discrepancy. Duke has been getting out of the way on layups and dunks the other way.
