I challenge you

to not get chills reading that article! I was in attendance at that game and I will never forget that roar!

I miss that year, that team. That year more than any other in recent memory because we were not expected to do nearly that well. We were not expected to win 13 games in a row (dating back to the Cal game at Haas to decide the Pac-10 Champion, where we had 19 points at halftime) to end up in the FINAL GAME. I can’t wait for a year like that again!

I got the chills.

My school friend and former roommate was at that game, and I have never forgiven him for not inviting me. Then again, he will never forgive me for not inviting him to the 13-9 game.

And, that is what is so beautiful about being fan and supporting your team through thick and thin. Nobody expected much from that Bruin Squad. I for one had Gonzaga beating us on my bracket sheet. Then again, nobody expected us to beat South Central. You go because you love your team, and every now and then you get treated to something so special you will remember it for the rest of your life.

I think that's a very fair place to rank the game.
  1. should be (and in all likelihood will be) the Kansas-Memphis national championship from a couple years ago. The hype around Memphis and watching Calimari eat crow when it was missed free throws in crunch time that opened the door for a crazy 3-pointer makes it a memorable game. The fact that it went to overtime as the national title game makes it slightly better than our 2006 game.

Of course, I’ll never forget the UCLA-Gonzaga game. It certainly belongs as a strong #2. CBS got this right.

The talent on the floor...

….is simply amazing.

Having a lineup of two NBA lock down defenders (AA and LRMAM), two NBA point guards, and a NBA starting center (Hollins) to go along with a converted McD all american in CB, in retrospect how could that team not win.

That game will never cease to put a smile on my face.

I had a theory

to answer

in retrospect how could that team not win

but as far as I can tell, ND didn’t sign on with the school in any way until the summer…
