Women's Golf
The top-ranked Bruins gave away a four stroke lead in the final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational and finished third in the tournament with a final score of +8. UCLA won't compete again until the 26th.
Women's Gymnastics
It was their best, but it wasn't good enough. #3 UCLA went clear across the country to face off against #5 Georgia and put together their best score of the year, which is also their best since 2004. Even so, the Bulldogs were better and prevailed, 197.900-197.875. Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs scored a perfect 10 on the beam and the team set season highs on the beam and vault. The Bruins will close the regular season on Senior Day at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday versus #24 Michigan St. and Cal St. Fullerton.
Women's Water Polo
They just can't play a short game. A week after an eight overtime match, #3 UCLA played a six overtime game, but unlike the longer one, the Bruins fell short in the six overtime contest. In Hawaii, the #5 Warriors took down the Bruins, 9-8. #13 UC Irvine and #6 Arizona St. are the opponents for UCLA (12-5, 1-1) this week.
Men's Volleyball
#3 UCLA took a step forward in beating #15 Lewis in three sets, but then took one more step back when they fell at the hands of #12 UC Irvine in four sets. At 10-9 overall and 8-7 in league play, the Bruins will host Ball St. and #11 Loyola.
Women's Tennis
There were only two matches on the docket for the #12 Bruins last week, but as is always the case when the opponent is USC, there was one big one. The Bruins and #12 Trojans were locked in a close one that came down to the final match of the day, where UCLA's Andrew Remynse picked up a huge three-set win to give the Bruins a 4-3 win. The Bruins followed that up with a 7-0 romping of Oregon in Eugene. #9 Baylor and Pepperdine are this week's opponents.
Softball
The #5 Bruins got off to a poor start last week and the rain kicked in just as they were getting things back together. UCLA began the week in Riverside taking on a 5-8 Highlanders team and were upended, 3-2. UCLA then went south to San Diego for a tournament, where they opened against #21 Fresno St. The Bruins fell behind early to the Bulldogs, but rode a three-run fifth inning to come back for a 5-4 win. Things got better in the next game when the Bruins rolled to a 6-0 victory over UTEP before rain killed the rest of the weekend. #20 North Carolina will be at Easton Stadium for the Bruins' (16-4) lone game this week.
Men's Tennis
For the first time since 1991, the #6 Bruins fell to USC at home. It was a lopsided 6-1 contest that went in favor of the #5 Trojans in the only match UCLA played all week. The Bruins will welcome Duke and #14 Baylor to Los Angeles this week.
Men's Golf
#11 UCLA finished in ninth place at the USC Invitational, 26 shots behind the winners, Oregon. Gregor Main's -4 score was good for fifth in the individual competition. The Bruins will compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate this week.
Women's Basketball
The 25th ranked Bruins showed no signs of having issues dealing with the pressures of being a ranked team, defeating both of the Arizona schools to complete the regular season on a eight game win streak. First, UCLA took down Arizona St., 63-59, then the Wildcats went down, 70-61. The Bruins open the Pac-10 Tournament at 7:15 pm PST at Galen Center.
Men's Track and Field
Nelson Rosario was the only Bruin winner in the opening of the outdoor season, taking the long jump and high jump competitions. In the last chance qualifiers, four Bruins improved upon their marks heading into this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships.
Women's Track and Field
Two Bruins and the 4x400m relay team improved upon their marks heading into this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships.
Women's Rowing
In each of the three races versus LMU to open the spring season, the Bruins were victorious. They'll compete against San Diego St. this week.

"Women"
Hi, not a big deal, but it would be nice to refer to the women on the bball team as women and not girls (photo). In high school they’re girls, college…women. Thanks.
Go Bruins!
I disagree with your reading
I read that as a colloquial term of affection, like a female version of, say “Howland’s Boys.” This is supported by the fact that they are referred to as “women” (or “Bruins” I guess) in all other instances. It does not appear to me that Ryan intends anything more sinister than an affectionate collective nickname.
Water Polo
Not good for the women’s water polo team. 5 National Championships on the line.
One good thing about the women’s water polo vs. men’s water polo is that 8 teams participate in the NCAA national championship. Only 4 in the men’s championship tournament.
Women's BB
Congratulations to UCLA head coach Nikki Caldwell for winning Pac-10 Coach of the Year from the Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Media.
