Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

A tape-delay of yesterday's home softball contest vs. the ASU Sun Devils will air tonight at 5:00PM on FSN Prime Ticket and again Sunday afternoon at 3:00PM. The outcome may not have been ideal for the Bruins, but it was certainly an entertaining game to watch. Get to know this year's team, see UCLA slug out 8 hits including 3 homeruns, and watch some great defensive plays by shortstop Monica Harrison and third baseman Julie Burney.

All 3 games were tough

We could have won all of them. Statistically the two teams were almost even during the series. But ASU was simply more efficient. One bad pitch here and there, untimely errors (especially in the 2nd game) and the absence of clutch hitting when we really needed it prevented us from winning. We’re missing the competitive edge we need to push ourselves into the win column. It also doesn’t help playing two of the toughest teams in the conference without 2 of our top 3 pitchers. I’m still optimistic about the future, I’m just not sure how much longer I can wait.

I don't mean to insinuate anything

It’s just that we’re in a pivotal part of the season. If they don’t start winning it will affect their seeding for post-season and make it that much more difficult to reach the College World Series. I think this team can do well, but it will be an uphill battle.

Got it

This is KI’s 3rd season in Westwood though. Right? It will be interesting to see how we end up performing this season. I think the question will be is whether KI has UCLA positioned for elite level success in the coming years after the season is over. I think the standard for this program should be high.

College softball wouldn’t what it is today without what UCLA did to push it under Coach Enquist. I don’t expect KI to ever replicate that level of success. Enquist was essentially the Wooden of her sport. However, I do think it is extremely important for UCLA to have a program that is legit contender year after year and winning its fair share of titles.

I agree

Having a softball team with the History and tradition of UCLA was one of the factors that led me here. To be able to experience it first hand as a fan of the sport is an exciting opportunity.

Cool

Guess for rest of us who don’t get to watch this team on a regular basis we can only go by the bottom line and records. That is why your impressions are so valuable because you get to see these ladies on a regular basis. Thanks again for keeping us plugged in Daynuh. Much appreciated.
