tWWL's "Outside The Lines" Profiles Mikey Garrett
Remember the LA Times puff piece on Mike Garrett being a "hands-off hands-off, so long as they win." Well tWWL's Outside the Lines (OTL) kind of exposes Mikey for his "hands on" approach when the Trogans were losing. Mikey's hands on approach included berating players in locker room after tough losses.
The OTL report is a little predictable though as ESPN's "reporting" works hard to shield Southern Cal from responsibilities concerning Reggie Bush, while throwing the basketball program under the bus. It sure looked like that tWWL's reporter was going out of his way to put together a sympathetic frame around Mikey. Ya know ... poor poor Mikey ... he is just a tough guy who is misunderstood by his detractors.
To get the "full story" ESPN went to Scott Wolf (LOL) instead of actually talking to the reporters who have been doing all the work on exposing Southern Cal over Bush, McKnight and tons of other scandals coming out of South Central in recent years. Par for the course for tWWL considering it probably wants to do everything it can to protect the Trogan football program.
GO BRUINS.

It's not Mikey's fault
He’s just a caveman. These “rules” and “regulations” scare and frighten him.
Stop the nonsense...
Rules are biased against the cultures that believe rules are meant for others. It has nothing to do with being black.
If it were the case, then I guess we shouldn’t comment on the horrendous treatment of people in The Sudan or Ruwanda either???
PLEASE stop pulling the race card on this issue, because you insult those people who are actually victims of racism.

And he grew up in a bad neighborhood.
What in the world is wrong with H.B.? He really did become one of them it seems? Anyway, poor baby, tough neighborhood, 600 student athletes to watch over, coaches to fire via answering machines! His yelling at Hackett after a missed free throw…wow…what an a-hole. I thought he was supposed to be hands off. I do love all the shots of guillory in the locker room and at the games.
Go Bruins!

Interview with Adam Rose from the Huffington Post and Jill Painter (yeah, Jill Painter) from the DN. Painter seemed pretty bitter about how Garrett treated her, and really ripped into $c. She also mentioned that she thought $c should be tagged with “lack of institutional control”.
I was pretty amused and pleasantly surprised to see all of this unfold on tWWL.
