While Afflalo doesn't play with same nasty streak [Dahntay] Jones does on the defensive end, he's a much better position defender. The sheer amount of work he puts in on a nightly basis running around screens and working to contest the shots of the NBA's elite perimeter players is a joy for a basketball purist to watch. "I love it," Afflalo replied with a big smile when asked about being assigned to guard the other team's best wing players on a nightly basis. "I've always taken pride in trying to be a complete basketball player, and the process of making that happen takes longer than just being a scorer or a one-dimensional player. It's just a part of the game that I enjoy. I'm very competitive, and I've enjoyed playing defense since I was little. I just love playing defense. I love trying to take my man out of the game."
