Is there a bigger whore
than Nike?
Plus, they stole Bill Walton’s quote.
Douche canoes.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
Douche Canoes!
I haven’t used that in too long. Thanks for the laugh. hehee!
"The entire world that bleeds blue and gold ... they have been dying for this." - Coach Rick Neuheisel
nike might be the biggest whore in town
but this goes back to marketing and shows me once again that Nike is willing to market the hell out of their teams
B.S.
Nike markets whoever wins. It has nothing to do with “their teams”. I don’t seem them taking full page ads for their “lesser” teams.
Diagnosis: WHORE
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
why would
they market the shitty teams? That makes no sense how do you market a team that doesnt win? Adidas doesn’t market the bad teams any more than Nike does. The difference is, with their big schools that consistently win in any sport (like UCLA) Nike proves over and over that they outshine and outclass their competition
Really?
Why even bother outfitting the shitty teams? Obviously people should only buy apparel from winning teams, allegiance be damned!
Nike does not “outshine” or “outclass” anyone. They just have more money to throw around and often do so in a bumbling manner and frankly often with little class. They sponsor a bunch of teams and only market the ones that “win”. I think a program with some history doesn’t necessarily need to be “winning” to get the marketing it deserves.
I haven’t seen Adidas market any of its teams to tell you the truth, so the comparison is not valid to me.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
They're great at marketing...
I just hate the way they go about it with some teams, just like this ad. Order? I’m pretty sure they didn’t do anything about UNC’s championship last year (never mind Kansas the year before, though they’re with adidas).
They did, though, take out a full page ad in Indianapolis paper for Butler after the game: http://www.flickr.com/photos/butlerblue2/4500459248/.
It’s better than the Duke ad message, but it just oozes bandwagon-ism.
GO BRUINS!
Nike......
Eugene Oregon: In a move to capitalize on their recent Tiger Woods commercial using audio taken out of context from dead people, Nike announced today a new ad featuring the voice of Adolph Rupp chastising current UK Coach John Calipari on his recruiting violations.
I may work with the Waves, but I'm still a Bruin!
