"I'm really excited about Lazeric Jones joining our basketball program and family," Howland said. "Lazeric is an outstanding point guard and is a good defender on the ball. He is a good playmaker and is adept at penetrating defenses and can also shoot the ball. The great thing about him is that he is a great kid that works very hard and loves to play the game. I think he will be an outstanding addition to our team."
Jones averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and led his team in assists (5.7 apg), steals (3.5 spg) and free-throw percentage (77.0%) as a sophomore in 2009-10. He helped lead the Volunteers to a 24-7 overall record and a Great Rivers Athletic Conference title with a 14-2 mark. [...]
"I feel I can come in and play at the next level," Jones said. "I'm going to give it all I've got."

Welcome aboard, LJ!
Here’s hoping Lazeric brings our perimeter D back from the dead.
Thank you, thank you, try the veal!

"In this program your passion bucket must be full to play SC." -- CRN, to Dan Patrick, 1/2008
aw man
I didn’t realize that we’re going to have to deal with these kinds of jokes all next season. :p
Should be fun, though.
But really, more than anything, we need LJ to be a consistent PG who can simply bring the ball up the court without turning it over half the time. Anything more than that is an added bonus in my book.
funny, most other schools seem to have a PG capable of doing that
shouldn’t seem like a big deal and yet, we really had nothing for a good part of the season
at the very least
he should have good competition with JA, raise both their games and give us another ball handling option; and between the two of them they ought to be able to allow ML to focus on being a slashing 2-guard.
We should see improved production at pretty much every position next year with three returning starters, more depth at PG and more depth and talent at the 5. We may miss MR but we will play a different game with ML at the 2.
