So I put together a short compilation of Deonte Burton highlights to show folks here why I think we should lock this kid up. I think Ben Ball fans will particularly appreciate the play that runs from 0:38 to 0:50. Sounds like he's ours if we make the offer.

Thanks LVB
It appears that the young man has some skills. I think he would fit very nicely into our program. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that he is physically mature for his age and plays with a lot of intensity.
recruits

those are some very nice highlights.
Is this somebody we are looking to sign this year or next?
The best thing you can do for your children is to love their mother. John Wooden
he's class of 2010

he’s also listed as a SG/PG, I’d hope he could be decent at the PG as we already have 2 solid looking SG’s for next year.
Anyone know
why we haven’t offered him (or any other guards) since McCallum and Zielger officially got taken off the table? I thought something would happen rather quickly after we knew the decisions of those two.
Thanks for the vid!
according to scout though
We did not extend an offer to him, long beach state did, I don’t know how accurate or up to date this information is though.
I think Burton has a UCLA offer now
Although it looks like Burton might end up somewhere else because there is possible resentment from Burton camp against Howland and his staff for waiting so long on him and waiting for McCallum.
I still think going after McCallum was chasing a unicorn (along w/ going after Zieglar) especially after it became clear few months ago they were pretty much locked up to play for their Dads. That said I am not sure if Burton is really the answer. Perhaps he is but not sure. I do see why there would be resentment. One way to address that would have been to manage the expectations game on the part of Howland’s staff and stay in communication. Kerry Keating did a really good job in this area because he had built up relationships.
It will be interesting to see how next couple of weeks turn out.
My attitude regarding Howland's recruits
after the recent depressing bout of letdown is, to sum it up neatly, " I have to see it to believe it ."
Really, this is not about losing faith. I am simply airing grievance within our Bruin family. When things went wrong to the horrific extent the way it did, with two consecutive crops of busts, you just learn to withhold expectations until you get to " see the goods " in person.
As for Burton’s clips, The ones I saw with Brendan Lane, Mike Moser dazzled me too. They penetrated well, drove the lane, dunked, defended the paint, caused turnovers etc.
I am certain our YMCA point guard Jerime Anderson opened people’s eyes too. I still remember LATimes’ raving article on his skills and floor leaderships, etc.
I am not rehasing and rebashing but really, LET’S WAIT & SEE.
