any relevant information on Mathews?
All wikipedia tells me is
“He appeared with his son Jordan on Teletubbies.”
The post by Achilles doesn’t mention anything about coaching style, recruiting skills, etc either.
Bio
Here is his official bio on Nebraska’s website. He will be a solid gate as he has deep ties to Southern California recruiting scene. However, I hope he is not the only change in Howland’s staff. I speak for all the frontpagers when I saw we expect Howland to make more changes this off-season. Just hiring Matthews is not enough.
Good piece of the puzzle
in that from what I hear guy will speak his mind. I think he will tell Howland when he feels he is doing something wrong and has enough experience to have credibility. However, he is pretty old, and the rest of the staff has to made up of some younger guys with charisma and recruiting chops to real in the players.

However, we need someone with street cred who can relate to todays players and their backgrounds and age. Phil would have been a great addition to Lavin’s staff. He can only help
