Non-Revenue Bruin Sports Review and Calendar

This weekend, and especially Saturday, will be one of the best athletic days to ever come to Westwood. It's incredible when you think about how much the weekend has to offer. The baseball team will take on Arizona St. in what some are calling the best series anywhere in the country all year long. The softball team is on fire and hosting a top 20 team in Oregon. The MPSF Women's Water Polo Tournament is being hosted at the brand new Spieker Aquatics Center and the Bruins will look to take momentum from it to the NCAA Tournament as they chase their SIXTH straight national title. There's also the UCLA/USC dual meet in track and field, which is a must-see for anyone who doesn't make it out to Drake Stadium often. If you don't really follow track and field, you can still have a blast by rooting for the boys and girls in blue and getting caught up the atmosphere of the great crowd. It's an incredible weekend in Westwood so head out and enjoy it. It's a must-see weekend for all Bruins.

Women's Gymnastics

We had our rocking open thread during the NCAA Championships and then there was the celebratory thread so by now, I assume you all know about the top-seeded Bruins national championship. At this point, all I have to add is another congratulations to the team on their tremendous season.

Women's Golf

The #2 Bruins posted their ninth straight podium finish at the Pac-10 Championships with a second place finish this year. UCLA finished at +17, three stokes behind the tournament winners, #7 Arizona. Five Bruins also picked up All-Pac-10 honors with their performances. The NCAA Regionals on May 6th are up next.

Women's Water Polo

The fourth-ranked Bruins will compete in the MPSF Tournament this Friday through Sunday, hosted by UCLA at the Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins will play Hawaii in the opener and then if they win, the winner of the 1 vs. 8 seed match on Saturday.

Men's Golf

The #5 Bruins will compete in the Pac-10 Championships beginning Monday.

After a disappointing weekend versus Arizona St. a couple weeks ago, #6 UCLA has sure bounced back. The Bruins swept Oregon St. two weeks ago and last week they went up to Palo Alto and swept #10 Stanford. The weekend started with a 10-0 mercy behind 15 hits and ended with another mercy, this time 10-1, thanks to Megan Langenfeld's two homers and four RBI. In between, it was a 7-3 UCLA win to give the Bruins a 32-9 record and 6-5 Pac-10 mark heading into this weekend's series at home versus #20 Oregon.

Men's Volleyball

#7 UCLA saw their season come to an end on Saturday when they lost to #2 BYU. The MPSF Tournament quarterfinal loss eliminated them from the race for the conference title, which they probably needed to qualify for the four-team NCAA Tournament. The Bruins end the year 16-14.

Women's Tennis

On Sunday afternoon, Yasmin Schnack, the tournament's #2 seed, defeated the tournament's top seed to win the singles title at the Pac-10 Championships. In the double's draw, she teamed with Andrea Remynse to win that title easily, 6-1 6-0, in the championship match. Next up is the NCAA Regionals in mid-May.

Men's Tennis

Amit Inbar and Nick Meister made it to the doubles final at the Pac-10 Championships, but fell to the tournament's number one seed. In the Invitational singles tournament Alex Brigham made it to the final, but also lost.

Men's Track and Field

Johnny Quinn took home the pole vault at the UCSD Triton Invitational. It was a small group of Bruins in San Diego, but it will be all hands on deck on Saturday when the Bruins close out the regular season in the always-heated UCLA/USC dual meet.

Women's Track and Field

Tori Pena was the Bruins' sole event winner, taking the pole vault at the UCSD Triton Invitational with Bruins also finishing second, fifth, 11th and 14th in the event. They too will face USC in the dual meet on Saturday.

Women's Rowing

#15 UCLA will go up against #8 USC on Saturday.
