Regular Season Finale: Bruins Look To Send Off Seniors & Rasmussen With A W
Well I guess my lucky mojo with baseball game threads ended last night. Bruins had been 10-0 after I had started putting up these threads few weeks ago. Oh well. The silver lining here I suppose the mojo snapped before the tourney and perhaps we can start a new one all over again? Let's hope we can start a new streak by sending Justin Uribe (pictured above) and 3 other Bruin seniors off with a victory in their last regular season home game.
Besides those seniors, today is likely to Rob Rasmussen's final regular season start in a Bruin uniform (he will be headed off to the pros). The junior has had a fantastic season to date as his ERA is down to 3.00 and has compiled an impressive 8-2 record. Cougars will most likely throw Adam Conley at the Bruins (their ace closer) who week ago throttled Southern Cal for 2 runs in 8 innings.
The first pitch is scheduled for this afternoon at 1:00 pm PST ("Senior Day" festivities start at 12:40 pm PST). You can also follow along with GameTracker or get updates on Ryan's UCLA baseball twitter. So might as well thread this as our game thread with updates, thoughts, analysis and anything else.
GO BRUINS.

We should get one
Every number we have is better than our national seer competition, but I fear they may give it to Fullerton because the bigger stadium there can make them more money.

Question
Why would that matter, since UCLA and CSUF are both hosting anyway? Won’t they both be full, no matter which team gets the national seed?
Well
the national seed would determine who hosts a Super Regional between UCLA and Fullerton, assuming we both win our Regionals.

1-0 Bruins
Blair Dunlap started off his senior day right with a leadoff double. He later scored on Dean Espy’s squeeze bunt to give #UCLA a 1-0 lead.

Hey, Ryan and Co.
Haven’t had much chance to converse with you guys this year, but congrats on a great season and good luck in the postseason.
Here are my thoughts, stream-of-consciousness style, after what went on today in the Pac-10. Obviously, you guys have no reason to get caught up in the “bubble” talk with your team firmly in the postseason conversation, but thought you may be interested in giving me some feedback on this:

Take a look, and see if you think I’m off-base somewhere. I’d like to get opinions from multiple fanbases, so we’re all somewhat on the same page (or at least know everyone’s opinion) heading into tomorrow morning’s selection show.

Looks pretty much spot on to me
From a resume standpoint, the Pac-10 should get eight teams in, but we’ll see if that happens or not. With the Pac-10 making up two of the three West Coast hosts, eight teams would mean a long flight for five conference teams, which I doubt the NCAA likes. If anyone gets left out then I would think it’s Cal, but truthfully, with the bubble as weak as it is and not too many upsets in one-bid conference tournaments, I think eight do it.

Ryan, question on pitching...
What will our pitching rotation look like for the regional? Does Claypool start the opener against the #4 seed or will it be our “normal” weekend rotation?
Easy money and faithless women, red-eye whiskey for the pain...
Don't know yet
Different coaches have done different things, but Savage hasn’t been a #1 seed before so we don’t know based on history. I’ll try to talk to him this week and see what I can find out.
