Wear twins not returning to UNC
Nestor anticipated it a few days ago, now it's official: Wear's father said his sons are not going back to UNC next year and asked Roy Williams to release them from scolarships.
No word right now on their new school...how do you feel about them?

On that Wear thread you linked … well uhm … take a look:
Nestor be responsible; this is why blogs can’t be taken serious; friends said they might transfer? omg
I scoured the internet and there aren’t even rumors of the Wear twins transferring. I just read 2 pieces on the Wear twins and how excited they are about the upcoming season with NC. You not only talk about this “RUMOR” of them transferring, you talk about the pro’s and cons if they did? how irresponsible to print the pro’s and con’s when these are wishful rumors.
This is why the internet is such a joke sometimes. These are rumors and cant’ be taken seriously. The Wear twins are not transferring so I’m LOL at this. come on. Deal with what is not what might be.
A joke indeed.
I want them
My friend is a little more enthusiastic than I am, but here’s his post over at BRO:
I have been disappointed that many on this board have put forth the thumbs down on a Wears twins’ transfer to UCLA without fully thinking it out.
I think it would be great for the program:
1. They are good players. Take their PPG and RPG stats for their freshmen years, project them out to 28 minutes a game (i.e., a realistic number of minutes if you are in the short rotation) and compare them to the same 28 mpg projection for our hallowed freshmen Honeycutt and Nelson:
Honeycutt 7.3 PPG 6.6 RPG
Nelson 13.3 PPG 6.8 RPG
T. Wear 9.7 PPG 6.0 RPG
D/ Wear 7.8 PPG 4.6 RPG
2. They will likely be five year players. Unlikely to jump to the NBA early if they go at all. Bonus points as five year players (Michael Roll, anyone?); more physical and mental maturity etc.
3. They would be part of a large (for us, lately) senior class: the Wears, Lamb, Stover, Josh (if he stays) and Carlino (if he doesn’t redshirt next year). Basically three five year seniors + Lamb, all good citizens and potential leaders. Seniors, not freshmen, tend to win championships.
4. They have a year under Roy Williams, certainly a good coach. And a year of playing top level competition, both in conference ACC and out of conference (e.g., vs. Kentucky).
5. Along with Lamb they form a strong Mater Dei connection. One Mater Dei alum on the team = a quirk; three = a budding pipeline.
6. They are versatile. Call them jacks of all trades, masters of none if you wish but they can play the 3, 4, or 5 and we know that BH loves a flexible roster.
7. They’ll help recruit that elite point guard we need from next year’s high school class. If I am a PG considering UCLA I know that I’ll prep for a year behind JA and ZJ and then get the keys to the ignition in 2012-13 (the opening of the new Pauley, no less). It would be nice to know that Nelson, Lane, Stover, the Wears, and probably Smith will all be around to get me the ball.
8. It would add two major bodies for practice next year. Lest we forget, we could hardly hold a practice going into the pre-season games last year for lack of healthy bodies; the Wears would give Nelson, Lane, Honeycutt, Stover et. al. a more vigorous test during practice.

Arturo, I don't have a problem with the Wear Twins.
But you have to be careful about extrapolating possible results based on minutes played. It just doesn’t always work out that way. Some guys are much better in short spells while other guys thrive while playing long minutes. Another thing that’s easy to overlook is that when guys come off the bench, as the Wear Twins did, the guy they compete with (same team) for numbers is getting his rest while they produce points, rebounds, and such. Projecting them forward with starter’s minutes you take for granted that either Nelson and Honeycutt are going to sit more minutes (not likely) or that they are on the floor at the same time (which would necessarily cut into their production)
That being said, I’m all for getting the best athletes into our program and competing at the highest levels. If the Wear Twins are what we’re looking for, they are more than welcome in Westwood.
