Great piece
That got me fired up. I have said over and over again. I am not giving up on Anderson. Not yet. I hope takes advantage of this. Great article. I think its worth blogging more on this. If I don’t get to it .. someone should expand on it.
I was thisclose
to giving up on him. I’m really pleased to read what Anderson and Lee have to say – though I like Howland’s point best: don’t tell me. Show me. I’ll be ready to start the season ready to see what he can do rather than expecting to look away and scream in disgust.
Love the quotes from Lee
Thanks for posting this
I love this quote from ML
Having his legacy be one of losing was simply not an option.
“I definitely wasn’t leaving on this note,” Lee said. “You can’t leave UCLA like that. That’s crazy.”
I wonder if all of the chatter about him leaving was coming from him, or those close to him that may not have had his interests in mind.
We're havin' too much fun today. We ain't thinkin' 'bout tomorrow.
I liked the part about . . .
his friends filling up his cell phone with texts like, “what’s wrong with you?”
It’s one thing if we as fans feel that way, but when your own buddies and former teammates call you out, it hits home in a way that can’t be ignored.
I also like what Howland told them, “talk is cheap” I want to see it on the floor as well.
Go Bruins!
The best thing you can do for your children is to love their mother. John Wooden
"Words are cheap," he said, demanding Anderson to back it up with actions.
I’m glad Coach Howland isn’t coddling Anderson. He definitely needs to be demanding more from players that aren’t putting enough effort in. This article definitely lifted my spirits a little bit about the program’s future.
I remain a big ML fan
With one caveat, I am a huge ML fan. I think he will be one of the top players in the PAC 10 next year and a star. He is a very good defender and in his natural position on the wing, he will be a very good player.
His quotes are perfect as well. I still think he is a good kid and should not be painted with the rest of his class. He has done his best and I love “wasn’t leaving on this note” quote. I agree with CBH and am “especially excited about Lee.”
I agree with Nestor, this article fires me up!
Toughness
I am not sure about his for lack of a better word toughness. His multiple games with cramps in key situations are part of it but he also seems to have an issue with pressure. I sometimes get the feeling ML does not want to be the man, take the shot . lead the team, be on the FT line in a close game, etc. So I am concerned about his physical and mental toughness. I am not explaining it well but again I really like him.
...Lee said
“We’re carrying a lot of tradition. The four letters on our jerseys hold a lot of weight.”
