So Texas and its lemmings are not coming to the Pac 10...or 16...or 11 for now. Aside from the money, this is probably good for us. Texas clearly wears the pants out there, and the thought of Kansas without pants is troubling. It is probably in the best political interests of the Pac 11 schools not to have UT move to town and start telling us how things are going to work while taxing us for the privilege. Some headaches just aren't worth the $$$ (Reggie Bush excepted).
This leaves us with the turmoil of conference names. Texas saved the Big XII, but now they are only X. The Pac 10 went Spinal Tap and turned itself up to 11, and with maybe another on the way can become the 12 Pac, which opens up good cross-marketing opportunities for tailgates. The Big 10 demonstrated its short-bus math (Michigan excepted) by adding Penn St and still calling itself 10, so we'll see if adding Nebraska merits mathematical accuracy. Not likely though - you know what they say about that N on the helmet. The SEC and ACC have played it safe by avoiding numbers altogether. Smart move (insert jokes about the South here).
Only Texas's conference looks stable for the time being. So let's start there...
