Didn't see a gameday thread, so thought I'd put something up.

UCLA is the away team as the #5 seed vs #4 Florida.  In the top of the first, Florida's pitcher has been called for 2 illegal pitches already which has turned what could have been an inning over into a 3-0 lead for UCLA.

With 2 runners on, Andrea Harrison Hit a 3 run shot to give UCLA a 3-0 lead.  Going to the bottom of the first, UCLA is up 3-0.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Sprint TV is actually useful for once

Woohoo! If only my phone’s screen were big enough to actually watch with any detail.

Just tuned in

And the Bruins are up 3-0 in bottom of the 1st.

Nice.

Florida gets a runner on 1st

still one out

Also, in game 1, #16 Hawaii defeated #9 Missouri 3-2. If UCLA wins today, we face Hawaii next, lose and we face Missouri

Double Play

Inning is over, still 3-0 Bruins

by truebluebruin24 on Jun 3, 2010 1:06 PM PDT reply actions

Does an illegal pitch count as a walk on women's softball?

In other words, is it simply a ball (like in rec league softball) or is the batter awarded first base?

by orlandobruin on Jun 3, 2010 1:11 PM PDT reply actions

The illegal pitch

counted as a ball both times, but in one case advanced a runner from first to second

Thx.

I want the Lady Bruins to win fair and square, without any controversy . . .

Macon walks batter after 3-2 count

now bases loaded, still no outs. UCLA is gonna need some help to get out of this one. Lisa Fernandez is now talking to our Macon and the infield

Bases clearing double for Florida

Tied 3-3

Then, Sacrifice bunt gives Florida their first out but now a runner on 3rd

by truebluebruin24 on Jun 3, 2010 1:27 PM PDT reply actions

Crap.

Double clears the bases. Questionable call at the plate for run # 3. 3 to 3. One out. Girl on third.

Pitching change

Megan Langenfeld in for the Bruins for Macon, it would seem

I will stop checking. This happens every time with me and softball, at least on TV…

didn't matter

it was yet another illegal pitch

by truebluebruin24 on Jun 3, 2010 1:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Florida has changed their pitcher

Who had 4 illegal pitches, and now Florida’s new pitcher has 2 illegal pitches in a row. This is crazy for the WCWS

by truebluebruin24 on Jun 3, 2010 1:46 PM PDT reply actions

Yudin walked

Runners on the corners with 2 outs. Burney up now

YET ANOTHER ILLEGAL PITCH

Yudin scores, Camuso to 3rd, 3-0 count to Burney. This doesn’t seem like something that should happen so many times in the WCWS, i’ve never seen an illegal pitch called on UCLA this season.

As I expected, the Florida coach . . .

. . . is complaining about the illegal pitch calls. He used the word “cheated” in the interview.

and made sure afterwards to reemphasize that they don’t complain…sounds like complaining to me

UCLA was also called for a 10 second violation

something i’ve never seen before, in the 1st UCLA’s batter was out of the batting box for more than 10 seconds and was called out

runners on 1st and 2nd now no outs

Another Florida fielding error

allows Yudin to reach 1st, still no outs.

As the announcer just said “when it rains, it pours”, an embarrassing number of miscues in the WCWS for the gators

Yudin being pinch run for by Crawford

Kaila Shull hits down the first base line

AND IT'S OVER

UCLA gets revenge for Florida knocking us out in 2008, wins 16-3. Will play tomorrow against Hawaii in the winners bracket

Tomorrow's game is a big one

Obviously. Win tomorrow, and the Bruins would only need to win one more to get to the finals. Lose tomorrow, and the Bruins would need to win 3 straight games to get to the finals.
