UCLA Hitters-How did they do they in High School?

Here is a list of some of UCLA's better position players over the years and how they did in High School

Garrett Atkins- University H.S. Irvine-Hit ,557 with 13 HR's 38 RBI's and 49 Runs

Eric Byrnes- St Francis Mountain View--Hit .500 with 9 HR's 45 RBI's and 23 Stolen Bases

Paul Ellis-San Ramon-Hit .467 with 7 HR's and 42 RBI's

Ben Francisco-Servite- Hit .560 with 6 HR's 32 RBI's and 10 SB

Troy Glaus-Carlsbad-Hit .525 with 8 HR's 27 RBI's and 36 Runs

Jon Heinrichs-Grossmont- Hit.425 with 2 HR's and 25 Stolen Bases

Shane Mack-Gahr-Hit .488 with 7 HR's and 18 Stolen bases. (Also had 16 hits in  a row at one point)

Ryan McGuire-El Camino Real-hit .375 with 5 HR's and 28 RBI's

Bill Scott-Alemany-Hit .615 with 10 HR's

Chase Utley-LB Poly- Hit .525 with 12 HR's and 48 RBI's

Eric Valent-Canyon Anaheim-Hit .506 with 9 HR's and 32 RBI's

 

Because there is only 25-30 high school games it is a little hard to extrapolate high school stats, which is one reason the pros sometimes prefer to take college players. However it looks like most Bruins that went on to the majors usually hit around . 500 with 8-10 home runs in high school.
