Poor Petey

It's so hard for Petey to watch u$c deal with adversity. In New York to hawk his new book, "Win Forever," Petey continues to "defend" his stint with the Trogans with quotes like this:

"I do feel responsible being connected with it," Carroll said of USC’s troubles. "I’ve also felt a responsibility, with the way it’s come down, to work to try to get the message out there and defend somewhat."

I love that strong "defend somewhat" statement. Later in the article, referring to his book:

"I’m really happy to be out talking about the issues and the book gives me a great opportunity to bring back the principles so people can understand better what we’re all about."

Yeah, I think people really know about your principles and understand what you're all about, Petey. I'm sure people will be able to read in between the lines of your book. It was probably clearer before the editors cleaned it up. In fact, I found the original book cover, before the smart editors changed it:
