I just saw something else about this
that said he would play his sophomore season at his JC and then transfer. Could be very helpful if he really is on campus by next month.
Well
Now Huffman is confirming via Twitter that it will be this fall.

Around the region
• Casey Griffiths, a bulldozing All-America guard for American River College, has given a verbal commitment to play football for UCLA. The Woodcreek graduate will play his sophomore season for ARC.
Only one line report.
That's what I was talking about in the first comment of the thread actually
as you can see, it was wrong as he is not playing his sophomore season for ARC.
I was just confused
by your “Reported 12 hours ago” comment, making it seem like old news. But then you quote accurate information about him enrolling in August from a new report while citing an incorrect report from last night. I think we’re all on the same page now, so it’s all good.
August
He will be here this year per Jon Gold – http://www.insidesocal.com/ucla/2010/07/and-another-one-arc-ol-casey-g.html

Perfect
We have a center, 2 guards and 2 tackles.
Admissions
How did this kid get in? Not complaining, but I remember the total circle jerk admissions performed with DT Mobley from Ohio State who ended up going to U of A. 1st they wouldn’t allow some of his classes from Ohio State (A major university), then they told him he had to go to JC and get an AA. I don’t know maybe the kid is smart, passed a few AP tests and got his AA in 1 year. I am still pissed about Mobley, a big time player at a position of need who could have played, check that started for us this year. Sorry off topic, needed to vent again.
It's a legitimate question.
I still want to know how we let Alex Stephenson get away and then join the enemy.

Full Qualifier
Since Griffith was a full qualifier out of high school, he doesn’t need his AA to transfer to a D-1 program. I think he spent his freshman year at a JC to fill out his frame, improve his game and get better offers.

I did the transfer to UCLA route a few years ago
It is not has hard as everyone makes it seem. There are just certain courses you must take, and not all courses are transferable. If you start down the wrong route, then it is time consuming and very difficult to get into a UC, but if you know what you want to do and work hard towards it from the start, you can do it. I went two years and got my AA, but that is not necessary, I just wanted it for completeness sake. You technically can transfer, or in effect practically reapply but with sophomore standing, after one year, but it is usually not done simply because it lowers your chances of being accepted. He meets requirements, and CRN wants him, so he gets in.
I also helped my wife to the transfer route and am helping my brother in law prepare for it now, so I am practically a JC counselor at this point, haha.
