Down to UCLA & Washington For QB Brett Hundley: "Decision" End Of July

According to ESPN's Greg Biggins, QB Brett Hundley is down to two schools, UCLA and Washington.

Quarterback Brett Hundley (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler), who is arguably the top player at his position in the West region, has narrowed his colleges choices down to two and could make his commitment at any time.

Hundley had a top five of Arizona, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and Washington, but has now cut his list down to two.

"I'm down to UCLA and Washington," Hundley said. "I'm still trying to sort things out between those two schools but more than likely, I'll be ready to make my decision by the end of the month."

The rest of the story is ESPN Insider so I won't cut and paste from it.

I can summarize it by saying that Hundley leaves himself an out by noting that if he can't make up his mind by the end of the summer, he could still use his official visits. He has unofficially visited both schools. He claims to have an interest in medicine and notes that both institutions are strong in that field. (One comment: It's great that he wants to be a doctor, but the strength of a university's medical school doesn't really have an impact on an undergraduate's education. It's not like UCLA undergrads have an easier path to UCLA School of Medicine nor do Washington undergrads have an easier path to UW's medical school. Still, it's nice to know a player has ambitions other than "the NFL, or I want to study business..")

Hundley also has positive things to say about Rick Neuheisel and Norm Chow, though you have to ante up to ESPN to read those comments. One thing not mentioned is that the Huskies have a senior quarterback and that their starting job will be open next season. Our depth chart is made up of younger guys. I hope this doesn't work against us, because I'd love to land the top QB in the West.
