Drip-Drip-Drip: Trogan # 8 Looking To Run Away From He(Lane)

Stay connected for news and updates

From NBC's College Football Talk:

In the last month or so, USC has lost linebacker Jordan Campbell to Louisville, defensive end Malik Jackson to Tennessee, defensive back Byron Moore to the JUCO ranks, fullback D.J. Shoemate to UConn, and top recruit Seantrel Henderson to Miami.

This morning comes word that the attrition may continue.

Citing unnamed sources, the Los Angeles Daily News is reporting that wide receiver Brandon Carswell is considering a transfer to Cincinnati.  Coincidentally or not, former USC teammate and fellow receiver Vidal Hazelton transferred to the Bearcats last year and is expected to play a big role in UC's pass-happy offense in 2010.

Those guys noted 6 players who would have been Trogans this season (they should also be adding Marques Jackson, who was looking to be part of this year's team).

On paper losing another WR for the Trogans shouldn't impact their depth chart, yet this kind of transfer story does hurt their program. This is the classic drip-drip-drip style story in the news that negatively impacts the perception of their (sinking) program at a national level.

Moreover, there is a now a possibility that the Trogans could have less than 70 scholarship players on the roster to start the season. This will make it even harder for then to keep the number of scholarship level players up to mitigate the loss of scholarship restrictions imposed by the sanctions. Well no one is going to be shedding any tears for those losers.

GO BRUINS.
