tundrabruin is heading out to Austin this Fall to watch the Bruins against Longhorns. He went over to BurntOrangeNation and asked the 'Horn fans some questions about where to hang out in Austin.

He got some great answers that everyone else heading down to Austin might want to book mark or write down.

GO BRUINS.

Where did you get the tickets?

Did you get them through UCLA? I ordered mine with the season tickets, but I heard that we sold out our allotment a long time ago. I highly doubt it, but was just curious if Texas released more tickets for us.

at ticketzoom.com

Won’t be with other bruins unfortunately but got really good seats. It isn’t part of ucla’s allotment.

Thanks

I was also looking for something like this. The post confirmed all of the places we had on our list to visit as well as added a couple others.

We were already planning on Salt Lick BBQ on Friday night. By the post, it sounds like that is the place to be on Fridays. It would be cool if all of us heading to Austin made that our Friday night dinner spot so we can add A LOT of blue to the crowd.

Im loving

how my post has been recieved by the fans of Longhorn Nation and Bruins Nation. My friends and brother are heading out to Austin the morning of the 22nd and should be there from wed to sun. Im all for meeting in one place friday night to show our true blue colors, light up the restaurant with some rowdy eight claps, and show them how bruins do it. Lets figure out something a little closer to the week of where everyone heading out can communicate and get a big rally going. My tickets were bought through the season ticket option, which I believe is sold out. Im really looking forward to this trip and seeing the crowd we can bring to Austin. In Tenessee we showed up in big numbers, and seeing that Austin is much closer, we should be there in even bigger numbers. Cant WAIT! -Rudy

GO BRUINS!

Salt Lick BBQ

Like I was saying above, reading Burnt Orange Nation it seems like Salt Lick BBQ is the place to be on Friday nights. Long wait and BYOB. It would be cool to hang out, dink some beers and have a little fun with some other Bruins the night before battle.

We’ll be in town Friday afternoon until Monday afternoon. We’re planning on hitting up a lot of the places they recommended. Salt Lick, Round Rock Doughnuts and Juan In A Million were already on the list. Reading reviews, we’re going to pass on Green Mesquite now and head out to Black’s instead. We are also going to check out the Kerbey Lane Cafe per their recommendation.

Hope to see a lot of blue all weekend long. Go Bruins!

Has there been a meet up or any sort of planning/organization thread for this game?

I know I am trying like hell to go, but it seems like going by auto is out of the question. (mapquest says a 20 hr drive)

Cheapest round trip flights seem to be about 300.

I was thinking of seeing if there were any recent alums that would be interested in splitting hotel or something like that to save cash. It would certainly make it more fun to have more bruins around to enjoy the trip and enjoy pre and post game “refreshments” with.

Kayak and Ding

Not sure if you are familiar with Kayak.com but check it out for flight options. It searches most airlines for prices. Also try and fly on an off day to save a few bucks(fly in Thurs or out on Mon). You can also download Ding from Southwest. They have random deals and you may get lucky and have Austin pop up. There are non stop flights from LAX on Southwest but they are pretty expensive now. We booked ours the day that Southwest released the dates and we paid like $220 round trip.

OK……did some dirty work for you.
The best I could find is Jet Blue leaving on Friday non stop from Long Beach to Austin. Returns Monday has a stop in San Fran. Round trip $274

Ive also got an unbelievable discount I will share with anyone on rental cars. For Fri through Mon I’m paying $72 total for a full size car.

Good Luck. Hope you make it out.

Rental car deal?

How did you get such a great deal. Please share. Thanks

Book rooms now if you haven't

Just booked yesterday and a number of places are already sold out for Friday and Saturday night. Those that aren’t booked are starting to get expensive.
