Great Read On UCLA Football History: "Red Sanders and Paradise Lost"
Charles Chiccoa from BruinReportOnline.com wrote some amazing articles on Bruin football history. As described on BRO Chiccoa "chronicles the era of UCLA’s all-time best football coach, the original "Wizard of Westwood," remembering the greatness, the scandal, and the circumstances that turned a potential dynasty into the quintessential what-could-have-been."
The link above goes to Part 1 of a 3 part series. Here is Part 2. Part 3 is not out yet. Click on the links as BRO have taken off the pay firewall.
This three-part story was published on BRO in 2002. For new generation of UCLA fans these columns are must read to get a sense of the history of Bruin football.

It's a little depressing to see
how many times UCLA was on the cusp of emerging a truly elite program. The mid 50’s, late ’60s, mid 70s, late ’80s, and late ’90s really stick out as near turning points in our fortunes. Hopefully Coach Neu will learn from those times and really establish us as consistent powers on the national level.
