I'm disappointed
It's 10:00 Eastern Time on Tuesday, July 27, and I don't see one new story having to do with Lame. He had all night to say something stupid or to do something stupid, and yet there's nothing. There is no pontification from St. Patrick the Ethical. There is nothing. It's like the air has been sucked out of the universe.
This doesn't feel right. Something is out of whack. I may have to go read conquest comicals to re-acquire a sense of perspective
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Well he is getting sued
so maybe the lawyers put a “gag on him.” But don’t worry Fox, he will not disappoint you as I am sure he will do something else stupid soon.
it's a media cycle thing
I am sure Lame is doing stupid things all the time, but it’s the media’s fault for not doing real-time reporting.
Of course, sometimes it’s good to store some up so they can be gathered into a large dossier and delivered to the NCAA.
I was disappointed when Garret got whacked.
He was definitely the gift that kept on giving. But, Lamey has stepped right in to those shoes without missing a beat. I cannot remember another head coach who had as little awareness as Hello Kiffin does of his words and his actions and how unaffected he is by what others say or think about him. No wonder he could accept the Raiders job and “work” for Al Davis and maintain his running feud for his entire tenure. And, it’s no surprise that he could walk away from the Tennessee job after one year. I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t care what people think of him or say about him, it’s that he has no clue how it affects others when he steps on them or over them, as long as he gets what he wants. Regardless of the having his Dad and the Ogre around, Lamey will continue to be one of the best things that has happened to UCLA football since Paul Hackett.
Pac10 Media Day in NewYork starts this evening 8pm PT
Plenty of opportunities for Kiffin to insert foot into mouth. It’s going to be fun seeing his dumber than a doorknob/deer in the headlights look on his face as he will get grilled by the media over the lawsuits.
That's just insulting
to doorknobs and deer.
Settlement
My sense is the Titan lawsuit is in the final stages of settlement negotiations. Nobody is talking which generally is a sign checks are about to be signed. If the settlement negotiations break down, then the southern cal spin machine will start firing back as only it can.
If you want to settle a lawsuit, the last thing you want to do is have your head coach say anything; absolutely anything at all—not word; stay in you office Lane; shut up!
Go Titans!
It's very, very early in the lawsuit game for settlement to be discussed, Peggysue.
I only two cases in my whole life that I settled before the initial pleading was due, and the total for both cases was about $1,500. The whole world thinks this will be a seven figure case, and for that reason, the lawyers need to have a big bill so a settlement of that size will be looked at as being justified.
Figure 30 days to respond, then another for just$c*’s first round of motions (dismissal for forum non conveniens, dismissal or demurrer for failure to state a cause of action, maybe a the Tennessee equivalent of a SLAPP motion), and them maybe another 30 days for an amended pleading. A round of rogs, and a round of motions on the rogs, then depo notices get sent out. (Although if I were running this show, I would notice Lame’s depo right this second and get him pinned down before his lawyers have enough time to teach him what to say.)
I think the more logical time frame for anything to happen would be around Halloween. With such a monumental turkey involved, though, it would be more appropriate if everything happen around Thanksgiving.
Hope you are right
Your experience exceeds mine—none.
But it seems to me that sc had best fold now. They do not want to answer written or oral questions about recruiting, emoluments offered to high school students or their parents in Tennessee or elsewhere, much less the skulldudgery in the Palo hire (theft).
I have a question and this is based on conversations with a couple of judges. What is Titans’ damage theory? The Titans will replace Palo and may pay more. But what other losses will they be able to prove apart from the punitive damage issue. That was the issue raised by the judges and they despise southern cal. (They may own the police but they don’t own the judges.)

A former Titans' attorney agrees with you in terms of the probable time frame.
USA Today has a piece about how much the Titans can do to make the life misreable of the most hated man in Tennessee. Interestingly, this is not about Osama Bin Laden.
The USA Today take on the time frame, based on some one who might know.
So how much of a hassle can this lawsuit become for Kiffin as he tries coach the Trojans and keep up with recruiting?
Game On posed that question to Nashville attorney Byron Trauger, who represented the city when the Titans negotiated their move from Houston.
“It’s like any other lawsuit,” Trauger said, estimating that the exchange of documents and taking depositions could be a lengthy process.
“It all depends on how cooperative the parties and the lawyers are, but generally it takes several months to do that work,” Trauger said.
If the Titans can get the case to trial, it conceivably could stretch as long as two weeks, Trauger said.
“Lawyers are good at talking at length,” he said. “Don’t underestimate us.”
LOL, I'm with you 71
when the NCAA announced their sanctions there was a flurry of reactions around the country. Then when the defections began there was a cascade of juicy tidbits to pore over. And, each time when it went quiet again, I felt the need to get more gossip at their expense.
Luckily we have the lawsuit to go over for now.

I just love
how Lame tried to nonchalantly blow this thing off when he said something to the effect of ‘I have since spoken with Coach Fisher and he now has an accurate understanding of the events’, next bit of news, BAM lawsuit.
I got a laugh out of that as well.
Almost as if Lame Kitten ‘explained things’ to Fisher the way an irate parent will have a ‘talking to’ with a misbehaving child. Yet, it is Fisher who is an elderstatesmen among NFL coaches and Kiffykins is the Blunderkind.
