Watch this joint appearance from CRN and Hello Kiffin with CNNSI.com. While CRN confidently dishes out his responses, Kiffin gives scared, tentative, one-two line talking point based canned responses handed to him by Heritage Hall. It's pretty awesome.
UPDATE (N): Here is the joint appearance on tWWL. If you are having trouble watching it on FireFox, try it on IE or click on the links. That appearance is just as fun to watch.

Kiffin has the personality of a wooden plank
How is this guy such a reputed big-time recruiter? It boggles the mind.
It's possible $c
has him on tranquilizers when in public.
I happened to be home for lunch to take care of my puppy and got to watch College Gameday, but I'll share my thoughts on that here as well.
Frankly, I think it is pretty obvious how much more charismatic CRN is when you place the two side by side. It is pretty telling that Kiffin’s best media moment came when he got his hot wife to share some of the spotlight with him. IMO, Kiffin has not matured in front of the camera one bit since the Raider days. He always comes off as scared and apologetic, which reminds me of … a puppy.
On the other hand, CRN is strong, assertive, and commands the conversation. CRN was basically able to label Kiffy as young and dumb on gameday without anyone catching on. CRN politely informed Kiffy that UCLA kicked SC’s ass before, and was confident that his program was on its way to doing so again. CRN has mastered the art of subtleness, and made his feelings clear without sticking his foot in his mouth. A+ effort for CRN.
Most telling, however, occurred when gameday tossed Kiffy a softball about what he planned on changing post-Cheaty. Instead of giving the obvious answer of avoiding scandals, playing by the rules, etc., Kiffy replied “Not a whole lot. SC’s had a good eight year run.” (paraphrasing somewhat). Ummm, hello?!?

I'm honestly starting to believe that it's not a lack of self awareness, it's not that he thinks the rules don't apply to him(although to a degree these both factor in); no, I think Kiffin's biggest problem is that he's dumb.
Sorry to be so blunt, but I’ve never seen anything from him that even hints at intelligence. He’s always one-upping himself in the blunder department, and he clearly doesn’t display much intelligence. I’m starting to think that all of these things that we label him are secondary to the fact that he’s simply not a very bright guy. He’s got a good name and “pedigree” which has undoubtedly helped his career, but despite being spoon fed several high profile jobs he’s managed to piss off every former employer as well as most of the nation. He does things in the manner a teenager would(no disrespect intended to teenagers, many of which I’m sure are smarter than Kiffin). Someone needs to coach this guy on several fronts, including public speaking and ethics. He’s becoming a joke.
"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove."
I disagree with one part, Diceman
Please, no one coach Lame on anything. I like him just the way he is.
I know grade schoolers with more poise
in public than Lane Kiffin.
I think CRN missed an opportunity when he was speaking of SC. around the 1:23 mark he states, “obviously USC’s had a great decade.” I would have liked to have heard something along the lines of “obviously Pete Carroll achieved a great deal in the last decade.” IMO, this would immediately call to attention that:
1. Pete Carroll is no longer there
2. Lane Kiffin has much to shoulder in expectations
3. It would be a subtle reminder of the Nuclear Winter Carroll escaped
4. Its a whole new ball game.
The best thing you can do for your children is to love their mother. John Wooden
It almost looks like CRN was taking care of Lame. Like his dad.
But then when Lame would speak, at least the first time, CRN just got this very funny, almost disgusted look on his face. He’s hidden it well, but I think it finally showed through. Not in a bad way, mind you, but just enough to let us see what wasn’t being said.
Go Bruins!
On Bruin Report Online ...
there is a poster who calls Kiffin "Lane Violation.
That cracks me up every time.
Even funnier...
I’ve seen a couple of southern cal posters refer to him as “Victory Lane.”
Spewed my coffee on that one. It’s my new favorite nickname for him, sorta like the old sardonic term, coined by the legendary Jim Healy, for the the trogans…. “the Brain Surgeons.”
Easy money and faithless women, red-eye whiskey for the pain...
It looked to me like Lame was told not to stick his foot in his mouth
or at least not any deeper than he already has.
100 percent agree
It seemed to me as though the SC brass gave him two talking points (those being that they are excited to get to work next week, and that they focus on themselves and try to win every game) with strict instructions not to stray from the script. It was so painfully obvious he was nervous, even moreso than when he stabbed Tennessee in the back and granted a quick “press conference.”
I was proud of CRN and, as always, was more than impressed with his poise in front of the media.
I can’t wait to beat those chumps on the field…

Is CRN now recruiting on TV?
I saw this on TV with the sound down and I thought they were announcing CRN was introducing another 2011 recruit, until I turned up the sound, saw the insigna and heard the canned answer (same one over and over again). Don’t think $UCers PR will ever let that happen again.
Holy Sh**, if there was ever an empty suit, Lame takes the prize.
It’s nice to know that the regime of Paul Hackett II has just commenced - (no implication on your ethics Mr. Hackett, but your demeanor seems to have been trotted out and dusted off!).
Paul Hackett II
hehe, I love that.
Seriously, can we just fire up KeepLaneKiffin.com now? I’m going to be beside myself when ‘SC finally fires Lane after 3 years. I’m really hoping he’s able to not screw up just enough to remain employed there forever.
Whipping boy
He seems like a scared little boy.
fantastic
Every day it seems some new juicy bit comes along that makes sc look like idiots.
This is our time. If we can’t claim the mantle in the next few years (and I’m hoping it’s THIS year) we will have wasted a golden opportunity.
