[Update x2] Southern Cal Forced To Apologize To Alabama & To Florida For More Recruiting Lies

Hmmm. Let's see here: did we call this or what?

On June 13th we LOL and dismissed a pathetic Trogan attack on Alabama and Florida (among number of schools) in the form of a whiny letter to the Pac-10 about illegal contact with Dillon Baxter, as nothing but standard recruiting lies from Southern Cons to distract from their scandal tainted, sanction riddled joke of a football program.

There was already a glaring hole in that clumsy stunt (which of course the toolbags in LA's traditional media easily fell for). ESPN's Joe Schad noted "Baxter allegedly "lost his phone" since calls. We also noted how Hello Kiffin already had a tainted record of making up BS allegations as he was reprimanded by SEC commissioner Mike Slive "for falsely accusing Florida's Urban Meyer of a recruiting violation." Also, we also pointed out southern cal making up BS recruiting whine (attacking CRN via Petey's Poodle aka Kenny Norton) to distract from the problems with their sleazy program. Lastly, there is the clear pattern emerging about Hello Kiffin being dishonest with recruits since coming over as the "head coach" which blew up all over him in the form of Seantrel Henderson.

Well, now it looks like Kiffin and Southern Cal are getting PWNed all over again.  According to Gentry Estes of the Alabama Mobile Register, Mike Garrett has apologized to Alabama Athletic Director for BS Trogan claims:

UA athletics director Mal Moore received a letter Tuesday from USC athletics director Mike Garrett apologizing for a recent report that Alabama was one of five schools to illegally contact Trojans freshman running back Dillon Baxter.

"I have spoken with Mr. Baxter and he has now confirmed that he did not receive a call from your institution," Garrett wrote to Moore. "Therefore, USC has no intention of pursuing this matter further.

"I apologize for any inconvenience or embarrassment this matter has caused to you and your institution."

Per Pete Thamel of the New York Times, Mikey has also apologized to the Florida athletic director for making BS up about illegal contacts to Baxter as well. I am wondering if there will also be apologies issued to Washington, Oregon, and Fresno State, since those schools were also attacked in this pathetic media stunt full of usual Trogan smears and lies. So many other questions from this.

Star-divide

I am also wondering whether the Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott will display some testicular fortitude and take the initiative by reprimanding Southern Cal in similar manner SEC did to Hello Kiffin last year (when he was lying about Urban Meyer). If Scott has any intention of making Pac-10 appear serious about its integrity then he would take such a step.

More importantly, what we need to wonder is how long idiots in traditional media will take any BS spin coming from these dishonest hacks as nothing by smears and lies to distract from the awful smell of the most tainted athletic program in recent college sports?

GO BRUINS.

UPDATE (N): Spencer Hall provides a handy dandy "form letter" on SBN:

Given that Lane Kiffin is now their coach and Mike "Haters to the Left" Garrett is still their AD, USC just might want to save some time and paper and make this a form letter for future use. "Dear [University Coach,] we apologize for the [insert accusation of cheating/ nasty and inaccurate public statement] made by [check a.) football coach Lane Kiffin b.) Athletic Director Mike Garrett]. Yours in victory, [USC official who acts like adult.]" It'd be the green thing to do, and will likely prove very useful over the next few years.

Of course, Hello Kiffin had nothing to do with this just like OJ had nothing to do with those killers. GO BRUINS.

UPDATE II (N): Looks like Washington has also received a form letter. Oregon is expecting one. What about Fresno St though? Ya know Fresno State, the alma mater of Hello Kiffin. BruininDenver has an explanation:

Maybe they are sending them all now because they caught wind of the 2 cent stamp increase…

Makes sense. GO BRUINS.

I really hope

SUC doesn’t fire Lamey before he can at least start screwing up on the field. They could actually turn around and hire someone competent (anything’s possible, even for Garrett).

We need to keep rallying for Hello Kiffin

Perhaps time for us to stop making fun of the guy?

Absolutely

We should all pitch in and purchase www.firelanekiffin.com and put it on the shelf.

This guy is going to self destruct in a Dorrellian fashion and I cannot wait. Kiddiekin is in way over his head. Monte has one foot in the grave and after he is gone, Lambie has no “there there” if you know what I mean.

By "put it on the shelf"

I meant we should not use the domain name-just prevent every SC bandwagoner from getting it and starting an Internet campaign to fire Lame as soon as he wins only half his games his first season.

by Karl II on Jul 8, 2010 7:54 AM PDT up reply actions

I expect nothing less.

When is the NCAA going to stop forcing this guy to apalogize and actually take responsibility for his actions. Over at conquest they are saying the coaches had nothing to do with this lol. Like this doesnt fit perfectly into Kiffins style.

Maybe they should do like their boy, OJ, and start finding the real perpetrators.

lol.

If the coaches had nothing to do with it then I am expecting some sort of punishment to be handed down to Dillon Baxter? haha yeah right.

im predicting it now:

No SUC Football player will fail to qualify academically over the next three years. With the transfers, job reductions (er, ‘scolarships), and depth issues they’re gonna have, I’ll bet you don’t see one academic casualty. Same goes for recruits…look for them to make ASU standards look like Vanderbilt…

The silence from Kiffy and Baxter leads me to beleive that Kiffy probably put him up to it.

By the way, i can’t BELIEVE kiffin wants to play TN in Atlanta. He’s a bigger dope than even I thought. I’m so disappointed it will not work out – that would have been AWESOME!!!

Tennessee's

Rivals.com admin, Brent Hubbs just mentioned that the AD went to USC asking for a game and was turned down.

by Caban on Jul 7, 2010 2:25 PM PDT up reply actions

and...

that story can’t be true.

Chik Fil A and the owners of the Georgia Dome signed a contract with the SEC and ACC for that game. They are contractually obligated to match SEC and ACC teams.

by Caban on Jul 7, 2010 2:28 PM PDT up reply actions

doh...

ok, I just found out that they’ve been trying to find a matchup for UGA that year and there were no takers.

Color me wrong.

by Caban on Jul 7, 2010 2:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Full story...

Tennessee and USC had agreed in principle to a home and home ~2020 when Kiffin was still in Knoxville, knowing they couldn’t find an opponent for Georgia in 2011 ChikFilA contacted both schools. USC was willing to trade a game vs. Minnesota for it, but Tennessee didn’t want to add USC to a schedule already including at UNC and Cincinnati.

Tennessee was more than happy to play in 2014/15, but USC opted out.

by Caban on Jul 7, 2010 2:43 PM PDT up reply actions

In other words

(He)Lane of Troy wants to play in next two years (knowing full well that Tennessee can’t do it for preexisting obligation w/ other BCS programs) but he is too chicken to play in next 4-5 years, by when he will get exposed as the complete fraud that he is.

Based on the following quote from that article
The depth chart released by first-year coach Lane Kiffin at the end of his first spring practice with the squad featured just three scholarship tackles — and only two healthy ones, redshirt sophomore Matt Kalil and junior Tyron Smith.

.
and what we have heard rumored about Tyron Smith, sc could be even thinner on the line. Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of guys.

So...

Matt Billings just flat out fabricated that “five schools” had called Baxter in his whine to the PAC.

Lame (who I now believe must be one of the most absurd, self-destructive human beings on the planet) has fibbed himself into an amusing little corner.

And Mike Garrett, who sincerely believes everybody wants to be a Trogan, is really, really sorry—to at least four of the original “five.”

Well, at least Baxter “found” his lost phone. (Whew! There could be photos on that thing!)

Based on their recent brilliance...

The candidates for new AD are (in no particular order)

Will Ferrell (was in soccer movie)
Calvin Broadus (Pop Warner coach)
Matt Leinart (excellent at intersport relations)
Sheriff Leroy Baca (already own the police so no salary)

by BruinInDenver on Jul 7, 2010 1:43 PM PDT up reply actions

So, I guess this is how it went down

Kiffin (to Baxter): “Dillon, I just sent a letter to the Pac 10 claiming the 5 schools you mentioned tried to contact you, which is illegal. Before you know it, everyone will be sanctioned, just like us!”

Baxter: “Uh…yeah…but, I don’t actually have proof that these schools contacted me, coach. We won’t actually have to prove it, right?”

Kiffin: “Uhhh…you don’t have proof? No voice mails? No texts? Hmmm….that’s okay, we’ll just say you lost your phone” (wink wink)

Pac 10: “Coach, may we see some proof of these alleged illegal communications?”

Kiffin: “Yeah, the thing is, the kid lost his phone. What can you do?”

Pac 10: “That’s alright coach. Just show us the phone records. We don’t need the actual phone”

Kiffin: “Oh shit”

If Baxter fabricated the whole story,

which Garrett states he did, then I would think some sort of punishment should be coming his way. (and kudos to SCs compliance official and Kiffin for not verifying Baxter’s story before reporting it)

If Baxter didn’t fabricate the story (i.e. it was a fabrication from Kiffin, the compliance official, or someone else), then Baxter is really getting thrown under the bus here by his trogan family.

Either way, what a joke of a program they’ve got over there.
