Kansas State Game: TV Coverage & Gatherings
Bumped. If you are looking for alumni parties around the country visit the UCLA Alumni website here. ICMY did a post with viewing information yesterday with ABC/ESPN TV map here. Otherwise you can discuss in the comment threads where you are planning to watch the game this weekend. GO BRUINS.

This post is prompted through one of my own inquiries within a comment thread. I recently moved to the east coast, and I'm somewhat worried about getting the K-State (regional ABC) and other games on local TV. IIRC, Larry Scott has allowed ESPN to show mirrored regional coverage on ESPN2/ESPN3 for those that are outside the coverage area, which should allow for the Bruins to be on "national" TV more often.
With that being said, I'd like this post to be a place where Bruin fans from all over the country can bounce ideas off one another as to where they will get the game. I'd also like this to be a place where fans can post ideas on where to gather locally and watch the game together.
As for me, I am located in Hartford, CT, and I will most likely be watching the game from my couch. I have Comcast, but they haven't released the local college football schedule. Worst case scenario I can order ESPN gameplan for the week or perhaps online at ESPN3.com. I doubt the game will be shown at local bars, but you never know. All other ideas are welcome...fire away!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

According to
ESPN3.com’s upcoming schedule, next Saturday’s game will be able to be viewed streaming online, at the very least.

for anyone in DC
the game should in theory be on at MadHatter in Dupont
https://www.uclalumni.net/ClubsComm/Regional/WashDC/Calendar.cfm
Looks like the alumni site should be able to connect you in a number of places in California and beyond (might be helpful if you are traveling on a game day)
I'm going to be on vacation in....
Seoul, South Korea on game day. Anyone by chance know a place where I could catch our game against K-State, or any College Football in general?
Find out if any places carry the American Forces TV (AFKN) network.

I am unsure if we will even get it on the west coast
we have Time Warner (ugh) and they are having their spat with ESPN and the contract ends on the 2nd with no deal in sight. What options do I have if they fail and don’t carry the game? Just go to ESPN3.com?
I doubt that TimeWarner will let the contract expire and not have a new one in place before the current one expires. Its likely that an agreement will be reached within minutes of the deadline. TW had something like this with FOX a while back and an agreement was made and TW did not have to stop broadcasting FOX programming. TW doesn’t want to temporarily stop broadcasting ABC programming…their phone lines would be flooded with people complaining about not having ABC. Its all BS by both parties….
Anyways, as a last ditch effort, you could always plug your rabbit ears into your digital converter box or hdtv with a built-in converter box and to watch ABC over-the-air.
Agreed
This happened with mediacom when I lived in Iowa, and they made an agreement a couple days in advance of the deadline. I wouldn’t worry.
Depends on the game and what the other regional games are
Usually it’s California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado IIRC. That’s not hard and fast though.

ABC/ESPN coverage maps
At the top right of this page is a link to the coverage maps. It’s updated weekly to show what areas are getting what games on what channel. The current link goes to a page from last fall, but it will give you an idea of what it looks like. I bookmark this page so I can tell what I’ll get to see each weekend.

Not sure what you mean...
if you can get online to access BN, which obviously you can, you can access the map. Granted, that doesn’t mean you will necessarily be able to watch the game in the comfort of your own place, but that’s why this thread (and perhaps others like it through the season) is focused on finding places to go watch it with others.

UCLA Club of Boston
You’re always welcome to join us up in Boston (Clery’s in the South End). Our calendar is attached: https://www.uclalumni.net/ClubsComm/Regional/Boston/Calendar.cfm.
If you do decide to find a local bar, look for one that purchases ESPN GamePlan. You’ll be all set!
Southend sounds fun
We used to watch the games at Allston Sports Pub before moving it over to Champions Sports Bar at Copley.

One of these days I’ll have to cruise out and meet up with the Boston folks. How many Bruins do you usually get together?
Anyone in or around Philadelphia?
We have no club here, so I’m not optimistic, but if we can find a few willing fans, I’m sure we could persuade a sports bar to give us one of the TVs. Worst case, I’ll watch on ESPN3 along with other exiles.
How about NY?

Philly
I’m also in Philly and would be interested in catching the game somewhere. I’ve been to Fox and the Hound in the past and they’ll usually put the game on if you ask them. Also, while there isn’t a club, there is a regional alumni contact who has planned a few things in the past, however, I’m not sure if she’s still around…

Online Access
If all else fails for any UCLA game this season (or any sports event), the games are usually broadcast online for free at Justin TV…
http://www.justin.tv/directory?category=sports
Sometimes, they are not in the sports category and you have to do a search for “UCLA” to find the game. Quality is so so but better than nothing. Cheers!
St. Louis, MO
Will be visiting our daughter and son-in-law. Any UCLA sports bars nearby?

So where are people going in L.A.?
I was thinking of going to El Segundo, Tavern on Main.
Go Bruins!
That's because it's on ABC in LA
That’s the purpose of the mirror broadcast.

I think Kansas State will broadcast the game...
on their website or may be broadcasting the radio call.
Unfortunately, I’ll be at a park in Santa Barbara for my nephew’s birthday party. My brother and his wife (both UCLA alums) are not into sports and are clueless about the KSt game, and it is killing me that I’ll be missing the game. I’ll force him to access the game on his iPhone so that I can at least hear the game…
K-State has
the audio feed on their site, but if you wait to check until Saturday, it’s very highly likely that you’ll find a video stream on either channelsurfing.net or justin.tv.

I'm on vacation in San Francisco
I saw two alumni viewing parties someplace online, wrote stuff down but can’t find anything in my notes now. One was in the city near AT&T Park, another in Palo Alto. Anyone know the locations?

found 'em
Pete’s Tavern in SF, Old Pro in Palo Alto.

Three actually
though the Walnut Creek (east bay) party is a bit out of the way if you are staying in the city. Going to be in SF tomorrow as well, still deciding whether to hit up the alumni party.
