Kansas State will pull off a mild home upset over UCLA. The Bruins can't get through a walk-through without someone ending up in surgery. Quarterback Kevin Prince's back muscle injury will be lingering and threaten to turn the "pistol" offense into the pop gun.

mildly amusing
but good bulletin board stuff. I’d love for us to make him eat his words.
If the guys in the trenches hold their own and control the line of scrimmage we should come away with a W. Our better skill players won’t win this game in Manhattan. The big-uglies in the trenches will determine the outcome. This isn’t any big news-flash.
I know we may start 5 seniors starting on the OL, but does anyone know how many starts those guys have amongst them? That is an important stat, but having the maturity of 5 upperclassman should prove to be valuable.
P.S. Had a CBH sighting in the Jackson, Wyoming Airport. He was arriving yesterday as my family was leaving for home from a family trip. He was still limping noticeably from hip surgery and I suspect was heading for some R & R. Didn’t stop and say hi because we were on opposite sides of the terminal, despite the incessant asking from my three boys.
Reading through that list
There’s a pretty clear bias, seemed like he just shooed in the Ayers comment. Happy to see things have changed around here

If you read the K-State board, they agree completely.
They think we’re a cream puff with a weak o-line and injured/inexperienced qbs, plus they worship Bill Snyder, as they should. He is a great coach and they claim he has plugged the holes with JUCOS.
I think it will be a tough game since it’s on the road and Snyder is outstanding, BUT I think they are seriously underestimating us.
I trust our o-line given Palcic’s coaching and their hard work the past two years, plus I think the pistol is really going to help our running game. I think Brehaut is ready after weeks as the number one and whoever plays qb will be fine. Our skilled position players will come in waves.
On D I think our speed is the best in years. We have major studs at all levels. Absent a complete breakdown by our D-line, I see us holding them to under three scores.
It will not be an easy win. RN knows that from his years at Colorado. So our kids will be ready.
Of course, no one really knows until the first game is played, but I trust we will win. My prediction: UCLA 24 KSU 17.
GO BRUINS!
Ploy
For what its worth, I cannot disregard the possibility the Prince injury story is a shrewd CRN ploy to throw off the KSU defensive coaches. With one week to go, KSU defensive coordinator Chris Cosh has no idea whether he must defend against Prince or Brehaut. The ploy could involve CRN knowing full well Prince will never take a snap. Or it could be Richard will spend the entire KSU game with a clipboard in his hands. Who knows. But regardless of the reality, Cosh is entirely in the dark. Pretty good job by CRN.
Go Bruins!
I doubt it
I think CRN preferred that Prince got in practices by last week. This does create suspense but unintended on CRN’s part and I think he would personally prefer to go with healthy Prince all along. It’s going to be an interesting game week.
I also doubt it
Given the changes on the front line, seems like he would prefer to have Prince getting plenty of reps with his guys. We aren’t at the comfort level to be able to engage in that kind of gamesmanship at this point. It’s unclear that KSU would come in with a dramatically different gameplan regardless of QB; they will be looking to probe for weaknesses in our OL and contain our skill players. I hope our OL can hold up enough to protect whichever QB is in, and also keep penalties to a minimum (even if they are not dominating the line of scrimmage, I hope the veterans can avoid the holding calls and false starts that have often put our QBs in tough spots in recent years); that would probably be easier if they had plenty of reps under their belt, and may make Brehaut the better bet even if Prince is healthy enough to start.

Pass rush isn't a KSU Strength
Last year, UCLA didn’t allow one sack, even with Craft in there, and since our O-Line has gotten better, I expect some really good Protection, regardless of who is in there.

until we see them out there
we won’t know whether our O-line has gotten better yet (or whether they are looking better in practices that aren’t blown up by BP and company)… but I hope you are right!

In light of the fact Nestor’s sources are the best period, I won’t disagree.
But I am reminded how Prince was for some time doubtful for the Eagle Bank Bowl and the press chatter was that he would not be 100%. This put Al Golden and his Temple defensive coaches up in the air about who they would defend agains—the same position Snyder and his defensive coaches are in. Frankly, I love it.
Go Bruins!
It is a small plus
but it ain’t like Prince & Brehaut are totally different QB’s. It adds just a bit to difficulty of preparing for the first game of the season.

Unless they read BN
Brehaut should be an enigma to them. Not to much positive stuff coming out of Spaulding about RB

Agree
Compared to what we saw last year, he’s come a long way.
Don't underestimate
Snyder’s gamesmanship.
At an event I attended, CRN told the story of how, when he was at Colorado and took a bus to Manhattan for the game with the team, Snyder had the local state troopers set up road blocks on the way to the stadium. The team got there 30 minutes before the game…not sure if this is true (it sounds true) but the old man is clever as a fox. Don’t expect a repeat of last year.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I just remember him for
1. “Running up the score” on Bo Pelini
2. Pulling the Ben Howland/Urban Meyer To pad the early season records.
I’m sure that he’s known for better things too

either you are dramatically underestimating the value of getting reps with the QB behind his OL
or I am dramatically overestimating the value. There seems a big difference between putting chatter out there, and backing up the huge plot by not giving your putative first choice QB any reps…
