Great story about Rafer Johnson
One of the great Bruins of all time. I was fortunate enough to be a volunteer at the LA Olympics and was able to witness him lighting the torch.

What a great story
And so many Bruins stories in one article: Rafer, Coach, Ducky, CK. Maybe it’s piling on, but I can’t help thinking:
Rafer Johnson, Jackie Robinson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Arthur Ashe (and so many others)
compared to
OJ Simpson, Reggie Bush (and so many others)
Of course, Woody Strode, who got the role in Spartacus Johnson didn’t, was also a Bruin, not just a celebrated actor but a pioneer in postwar pro football.
How can we not be proud to be Bruins?
I was fortunate enough to meet and get an autograph of Rafer.
I was at a Bruin game at the Coliseum (definitely dating myself here) and Rafer was sitting a few rows behind. Seemed like a very nice man. I wish I knew what happened to that autographed program.
